We arrived at the Roberts Convention Center on Thursday morning after a hard day and night of driving.   Lesson learned it is hard to start a show when we are tired.   Once we arrived Bob slept a little longer and then we polished on our truck along with the others in the parking lot.

The Cascadia was parked out front which sure made it easy to quickly show our truck to several people who asked if they could see inside.   I also enjoyed being able to show on the dash readout what our current fuel mileage was.  (13.62 which after going through the Virginia hills ended up getting a 12.1 using actual mileage)

We had the PJ walk on Friday and Saturday with Homer Hogg from TA-Petro who kept us all entertained with his insight in maintaining a truck.   Homer also shared how he has lost 105 pounds in the past two years. As usual there was an assortment of attire and we had a great time.

I was involved with two workshops and I want to thank Nick Marcu and Jeanie Silk and many members who were scattered in the audience helping with Networking & Panel Discussion “Everything You want to know about Expedite Trucking” as usual the questions were varied and I think everyone had fun.   I know there was sure a lot of laughing going on.   The second workshop was the Women In Trucking “Navigating the Potholes” which included Henry Albert and Jeanie Silk who discussed varied ways to stay safe on the road.   This workshop also had a lot of laughter as we discussed ways to handle trucks in many situations and stay safe.   My favorite part of the workshops is the camaraderie that is formed as people share their thoughts and questions.

This year I attended two workshops one give by ATA, Americas Road Team “How to Educate others on Road Safety” and the other by Homer Hogg, SR Technical Trainer, TA & Petro “Maintenance Matters”.   Both workshops were fun and I took notes not only on the subject matter but how they presented the information.

The Casino Night was also great fun even for those who did not gamble.    We stood outside the room and visited with folks as they passed through.   Every once in awhile when the laughter was exceptionally loud we would look inside to see what was going on.   Some of the games that are played besides gambling are really funny to watch such as the musical chairs. CIS really does know how to put on a great event from the looks of the attendance everyone is aware of this.

We also were able to spend time with old friends and new friends, while we never have enough time to spend with all of them it was nice to take advantage of the time we had with each of them.   Our favorite part of the Expo is the social aspect we always learn something new and we enjoying catching up on the past year.

This year the Drivers BBQ doubled once again in size!   It is unbelievable how this has grown in the past three years and each year it gets a little better.   We had our Flea Market stuff on the lift gate and we were finally able to sit down and chat with people who drifted by.   We got out the corn hole game and played a couple of rounds and I was glad to be on the winning team with Ebsprinting!   Thanks Eric.

All to soon the Expedite Expo was over and it is back to work we go! Thank you to everyone who worked to put on such an awesome show and we cannot wait till Expedite Expo 2013!
