Driver Seat Issues

In prior years if we had a short load or Bob had the logbook time he always drove the truck.   All of this has changed with the Cascadia.

We stay on a much stricter schedule as both of us like to drive the Cascadia even a short distance.   Now the discussion goes more like this “It is my turn to DRIVE and so what if it is only for a mile or to park the truck!”

I thought after a year that the joy in driving the truck would dim some but that has not happened.   We still enjoy the feel of the truck picking up speed and ease of going down the road and the over all stability of the truck and the quietness.

The gauges on the dash are positioned for ease of use by the driver and are easily accessible by me as well as Bob.   The steering wheel tilts and adjusts easily for my shorter stature and I can easily reach all of the pedals and see over the dash!   The seat belt adjusts to fit short or tall driver and does not press against my neck while driving.

The short hood of our Cascadia covering the DD13 makes it very easy to maneuver in tight spaces.   The mirrors are easily adjustable which I appreciate as I twist my mirrors in when backing.   The truck is easy to back and I have not found a place that I cannot get into easily as long as the truck will fit. I have found that the way the truck is set up I can easily get through tight spots such as road construction and know exactly how I am positioned in the road way, this also makes it easy to maneuver around tight areas at a customers property.

Today when leaving the house rain was threatening and there was also the threat of severe storms.   That did not deter me a bit it was “My turn to drive!”   I drove in light rain to a drencher that had us running at a slow speed, windshield wipers on high, and still the Cascadia continued on as if it was a sunny day.   What amazed me was that after all of the bad weather the fuel mileage climbed, as it was back on the interstate and traveling at the speed the DD13 liked.

Maybe after two years the new will wear off and we will not always look at the clock to see who gets to drive our Cascadia next!   NOT
