De-crowned

It is difficult to schedule appointments as we usually do not know when we will be home.  While at home over our Christmas break we had our teeth cleaned and I had a temporary crown installed as my metal (temporary) crown had finally deteriorated completely.

The dentist prefers to have me come back in two weeks to install my new porcelain crown, but this has not proved feasible.   I like to get this kind of work done during our Christmas home time, as I know we will be back home in February to work on our taxes.   We have been working on our teeth for a few years getting them back up to excellent condition or as good as they can be.

This past Christmas I had the temporary crown installed and all was well for the first two weeks.   Then my day went down hill… I was called in for a random drug test, which this time the timing was perfect, as I was not just returning from using the facilities.

This Concentra was located across from a large parking lot, which was nice as many of these places are difficult to get in and out of in the truck.   As I was filling out my paperwork all of the sudden I felt the crown come off the tooth.   Our dentist had warned me this could happen and if it did to try and reattach the crown, as the tooth would be very sensitive.   He was right, as immediately I knew it was there as just opening my mouth to talk hurt.

By the time I left the Concentra office the pain had subsided and I determined it was not the end of the world.   I was telling a friend about how sensitive my tooth was and he suggested an old truckers remedy “Listerine Fresh Mint Mouth Wash” gargle with this until you cannot feel the tooth or you cannot stand the pain anymore.   He was right with the pain part as it brought tears to my eyes as I swished the Listerine around.

I repeated the process with the Listerine a few times a day as my tooth started aching and in no time the tooth has lost most of its sensitivity.   I am still looking for tooth glue, but am not as desperate as I was for relief from the pain.

I have had a running joke among my friends when I told them all I had been crowned, now the last laugh has been on my when I had to inform them all I had been de-crowned!   Thanks to Henry for this tip that helped to relieve me of my pain.
