It's a Team's Life
Cover of the Overdrive
Overdrive Magazine has been arriving each month at our house for years. While we were still researching and dreaming of the possibility of one day joining the ranks of over the road drivers the Overdrive Magazine was one of our primary references.
The magazine would arrive in the mail and we would read from cover to cover with our favorite stories being real life truck driver stories. The life style and professionalism displayed by these drivers drove us to learn more about the industry before we actually joined the ranks. These men and women had paid the price and their stories kept us spell bound. It was a great honor when we met the 2007 Driver of the Year, as his story had been very interesting.
I am sure many of you can relate to our imaginations of what it was going to be like to see the country as a team! Paid to be tourists.... You know the drill. When the time came and we jumped in with a life preserver we found out all is not as we expected as drivers. Our fantasy was following drivers who were Owner Operators with a profitable business and that is where our dreams led us.
We figured out we liked or could tolerate everything about trucking except for not owning our own business. It did not take us long in the T/T world to see those "little" trucks zipping around and start asking questions. They appeared as if they were able to have their cake and also eat it.
We jumped into Expediting with both feet and NO life preserver and we have not looked back. All of this time we have learned by trial and error, always asking questions and learning. We are still learning still perfecting our craft and Overdrive is still delivered each month and read from cover to cover. Now we look at the magazine with a little more reality then we did before trucking, but it is still one of our favorite magazines.
To be on the cover of Overdrive is something even in our wildest trucking dreams we never thought could happen to US! Thanks Todd for thinking of us.
