Changes, They Are a Coming!

Whether you bleed blue or red, this past week has been filled with excited anticipation or complete dread. This blog is not meant to sling mud or cause division. This blog is meant to ask the question: What changes do you think the results of this year’s elections will have on trucking? I think we can all agree that the last couple of years have been very challenging for owner operators in the trucking industry. I know for us, we are ready for next year to be a better year regardless of who won the election!

How many of you were home to vote on election day? How many of you voted early? Or used the mail-in ballot as a convenient way to vote? We always come home to vote. Why? Because years ago we were told that if we voted early our votes would not be counted unless the election was very close. That did not sit well with us so we have always made sure that we vote in person on election day.

Recently, I had a conversation with a friend who has a young voter in their family. This young voter asked a question that I have asked as well. Why don’t we make Election Day a national holiday? Great question! We have so many federal holidays already. Making Election Day a federal holiday might just make it easier for more people to vote.

How do you see the future administration impacting your business? What changes do you think you will need to make in your business to make it as successful as possible? Do the election results have any impact on decisions you make about growing your business or adding new equipment? What are your thoughts on how the future administration will impact the trucking industry as a whole?

These questions might also lead to questions of our economy. How do you think the new administration will affect the economy? Will we see better rates for what we haul? Will we see supply and demand rise or fall? These and many other questions are all ones that we as business owners need to ask in order to make good business decisions in the years to come. Regardless of who is running our country or our states, we all do the best that we can do to keep our business profitable and growing. Some years are better than others; however, every year is a new adventure.

Here’s to millions of safe and profitable miles!
