This truck stayed with us for about 100 miles and the whole time Bob trying to figure out who they were.   As we were pulling into Utah the lady passed us one more time waving like crazy and the light bulb finally came on in Bob’s head.   This was a lady we had met in December of 2010 who her and her husband drove for Interstate.

We had stopped at a small truck stop beside I-5 to spend a few minutes with some friends of ours when an Interstate truck pulled in.   Norva and her husband Mike came over to say Hi and introduce themselves.

Norva and Mike have bee tractor-trailer drivers for many years and had been looking into Expediting for about a year.   When they would see and expediters and time allowed they pulled in to ask question, and boy could they ask questions.

We could immediately tell that they had been doing their research as their questions where in depth and knowledgeable about the business.   They spent about an hour with us asking questions and listening to the answers.   We gave them our card as we parted ways.

Norva and Mike found a used truck to purchase and started with FedEx Custom Critical in February and are still learning the system.   They unloaded near us and we were able to spend the day with them.   They seem to be starting out very well and they are still asking questions and learning the ropes.

Norva for many years was a solo driver for US Xpress and so we had a lot of stories to swap back and forth.   We also discussed how awesome it was to become part of expediting when we make a delivery and how the receive wants our freight and we do not sit for hours waiting to load or unload.   Another area we discussed was how great we are treated our carrier when we call in.   This is not something they are we found in the truckload world.

Another common theme we discussed was the difference in the people involved in Expediting compared to truckload drivers.    They have been very impressed with the people they have talked with on their willingness to share tips and ideas on how to survive in the Expedite world.    They as well as us have found Expediters to be a friendly sharing group of people and it does not seem to matter what signs are on the sides of the box.

One of the things both of them said was that they plan on attending the Expedite Expo in July to continue their education.   We sure wish the both of them well and look forward to seeing them again at the Expedite Expo.

The reason Norva and Mike knew who we were; they saw our Team Caffee sign on the back of our truck.   We replaced our old sign as it was getting a little rusty with a new sign our daughter had made for us by using a water jet.
