Our "new" Freightliner at the end of October has 183,383 miles on our DD13 motor. The Cascadia still feels like a new truck, the doors are tight, there are no rattles, and is a joy to drive.   We still marvel at how quiet the truck is and that we no longer need to raise our voices to be heard.   Luckily I am finally getting used to the quietness of the DD13 and no longer scan my gauges in panic thinking the motor has stopped due to the quietness.

One of the deceptions of the Cascadia is the quietness and how easily the truck picks up speed.   Our truck is set at 370 HP for fuel mileage and longevity of the motor and

The lifetime fuel average using the odometer is 11.45 and the DEF usage is staying around 600 miles to the gallon.    The truck has been trouble free and a joy to own.

Ways we work to keep our mpg high.

No idle time - when the truck stops the motor stops except when this is not practical, which includes traffic jams.

Speed - we watch our dash readout and drive the truck accordingly.   We often drive at 58 and in certain conditions we will drive 60 - 63 mph, which is our fastest speed.

Tire Pressure - we have a tire pressure monitoring system and the tires are checked manually often.

Eggs - we drive as if there is an egg under our throttle and look down the road and drive as if there is an egg under the brake.

Traffic - when traffic is light we coast into a red light and if possible time the light so we do not have to bring the truck to a complete stop.

Cruise - The cruise will be shut off if we are in rolling hills.

LDWS - Lane Departure Warning Sytstem  also helps to save fuel in a different way as it is an aide to keep us straight in the lane.  This saves wear and tear on our tires and also helps with fuel mileage.
