For our tractor-trailer friends who pull flat beds, they will laugh, as our 12,000 lbs. would be considered an ultra light load.   We picked up six skids weighing 2000 lbs. each, lowered the pusher axle and started our trip.

We traversed rolling hills in Kentucky and Tennessee with our 12,000 lb. load and I watched the fuel mileage on the dash dip down to 9 mpg and I started considering slowing down.   About the time I was ready to back my speed down I made it to Nashville and the mileage started climbing back upward.

We fueled in Florida and we climbed up to 10.5 MPG, which I thought was very respectable for the speed and the weight we were carrying.   We plan to run the rest the rest of this week at 65 mph and then start slowing down 2 mph at a time.

The DD 13 seemed to like the faster speed with the heavier load and the transmission did not have to keep shifting.   This test is teaching us more about how the DD13 likes to run down the road and we are enjoying this test.

Henry Albert has blogged about his past 4 weeks and how much of a difference changing from 65 mph to 60 mph.
