It's a Team's Life

Back in the swing of things

When we are home for an extended time we get back into our normal sleep patterns. The family does not appreciate us roaming around the house all night, or wanting to sleep most of the day away.   It takes us a few days to fall back into a semi normal routine.

Once the day arrives that it is time to leave the house I hope for a short load so we can gradually get back into our trucker mode.   Our first load of 2012 is a long one and what we hope will continue throughout the year.   We were pre assigned on this load so we had a few days to get prepared.

A couple days before it was time to get back to the real world we started switching back to Bob staying up late and me getting up early.   It is fairly easy for us to switch to what I call our truck mode as we have been doing this long enough.

The day before we head back on the road is as insane as it is when we arrive home.   We start hauling everything out to the truck that was brought in and then add some…   We go grocery and truck supplies shopping.   All of our perishable vegetables and fruits are restocked. When at home I freeze leftovers for quick and easy meals while on the road.   We also restock our windshield washer fluid and other items we go through rapidly in the winter.

The truck is now packed to the bursting point and we are waiting to pickup our first load.   We do not plan on being back home till the middle of February to work on taxes and that will only be for a short visit.   Christmas is our long period at home and something we look forward to every year.
