Looking for a far out place to hang loose? You might be looking for Weed. You can bet your bippy that you will have a blast. What a groovy little town. Can you dig it, man? Don’t forget your bread, you will want to bogart some trinkets and some brews. This place is a gas!

While it is legal in California to spark up a doobie, as a CDL holder, you may want to avoid this particular activity while cruising through Weed, CA. But don’t be bummed out man, you can still find plenty to see and do.

Grab a church key and head over to Mt. Shasta Brewing Company. Where they tout the slogan “Try legal Weed”. The brewery is located in a renovated creamery. The Medo-Bel Creamery that was built-in 1952 was purchased in 1992 and renovations began. Just don’t get blitzed or the fuzz may get you. You don’t want to get a five-o-two.

Before you split, there’s a righteous place that all the beatniks, free spirits and Dead Heads should see, this place is outta sight. The Weed Store is not a dispensary, but a souvenir shop for all things Weed...that’s Weed, CA. Score some choice rags or primo swag so if you get stoned at the brewery before you crash, you will have something to remember your trip to Weed before you flake out.

A little history on Weed, CA.

While today it mostly gets referenced to marijuana, the town is actually an old lumber town. In 1897, Abner Weed bought the Siskiyou Lumber and Mercantile Mill and 280 acres of land in what is now the City of Weed, for $400. He was the founder of the mammoth Weed holdings at Weed, and the builder of the Hotel Weed in Dunsmuir, California. In 1904 he sold his immense holdings at Weed. He also served as a Senator during the years of 1907–1909, and was Siskiyou county supervisor for eight years.

Burning Weed

On September 15, 2014, the Boles Fire spread through the town of Weed, driven by 40-mph winds. The fire started behind the Boles Creek Apartments in the central part of Weed and within four hours quickly spread to over 200 acres. Over 200 structures were damaged or destroyed, including two churches, the elementary school, high school, and Roseburg mill. The arsonist was later convicted and sent to prison for the fire.

From The Weed Store website: Few people realize that Weed was first created in 1901. Our store was built in 1946 and we have been sharing our love of Weed for over 60 years. We invite you to experience, enjoy, and love Weed too!

See you on the flip side,
