The Weekend Report
A week ago I was in Colorado. This week was respectable, if it wasn’t sandwiched between big gaps in freight. By the end of the year it should average out. My results have been volatile, but so far it seems the weakness has been related to the fringe runs like Colorado and now, Florida.
Fake runs. A driver friend is on sabbatical. He misses the road enough that he started calculating fake runs to crunch the variables. I told him it reminded me of the motorcycle rider who mounted handle bars to a fan and sits in a lawn chair riding his motorcycle simulator. Unrelated to the topic, the same motorcycle rider buys a harley every year. Sometimes it’s a new bike, sometimes a clunker, but every year he buys another bike. At sixty years old, he plans to sell one bike a year for income. Last I heard he had about thirty motorcycles.
It’s too hot. The temperature in Tampa is topping out around 95 degrees. With humidity over fifty percent, it is more painful than Laredo at 100. After a couple days in Tampa, I’m trolling out with a different strategy. I’m watching the weather reports as I go, and I’ll continue north until the temperatures average ten degrees less than here.
Futurama. I finally got a hold of Futurama’s season eight. I ripped the dvd, and it now resides on my phone.
