A good layover location has a lot of options for milling around to waste time and has everything within close reach. Exit 374 off of I-40 just west of Knoxville, Tennessee is about as ideal as it gets. The address is listed as Knoxville, but it is nearly in Farragut. There is a Pilot and a TA very close to the exit. There is a nicer Target and WalMart in the kind of neighborhood that usually forbids truck parking (but the truck stops are right around the corner). There is a Costco, Publix grocery and a Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Most of the area has a strong cellphone and data signal. Two exits to the east is a coin laundry for people who like a truckstop alternative. One exit to the west is a nice Farragut library with a creekside park that has about 20 minutes worth of trails. That’s where the photos come from.
