Fuel for Thought
Happy Friday The Thirteenth
Last week I spoke about my improvised strategy to get
through the wave of ice that swept across the country. I ended up working on the
one load longer than I’ve ever sat on a load. Thursday to Monday was the
original span from call to pickup. Pickup was pushed back to Tuesday then to Wednesday,
and the load was cancelled while I was on my return to the customer on
Wednesday morning. Fortunately when the load was originally arranged I asked to
have some sort of layover pay included with any dry run pay if the load was to
cancel. This reduced a little of the sting from losing a load after sitting so
long on it. Yesterday I ran a local run that will cover the cost to drive out
of the area if no freight materializes by the weekend.
Hey, the weekend is here.
