This is what an original EGR cooler can look like beyond 600,000 miles. I’ve seen much worse below 200,000 miles. On Friday, I picked up the van and ran around town. After parking, I noticed a new pancake sized puddle of oil under the van, so I went straight back to the shop. They are thinking rear main seal, but it can also be from below the turbo, which involves searching in two different directions involving lots of labor. We will start at the main seal as I start thinking more about vehicle replacement. I’m still pushing for mid winter before having to look at a new vehicle. It’s a shame, because the van is still running so well. Parts arrive Tuesday.

So I had a chance to refill the hole for the septic tank lids.
