Fuel for Thought
Catching Up
The last couple months has been a grind in Texas. Part of it
had to do with having to go to Texas for personal business, part had to do with
the grind called Texas freight. Hopefully, I’ve broken free of that vortex for
a while.
25,000 mile maintenance. I’ve only had a couple small repair jobs since replacing the transmission in April. Not bad for 25,000 miles. Real good for people who only put that much on their van in one year (not me). Both jobs were Do-It-Yourself. The air conditioner had been hinting at problems since the spring. I suspected the blower motor, and fortunately that’s all it needed. The windshield washer motor also went. I ordered both parts online and replaced them on the fly. I won’t make this into a tutorial, but if anyone needs instructions let me know. If you can tackle a fuel filter change, these jobs are equally easy. They are almost tool free jobs other than some torx head screws.
Goodwill. I bought a new suit at Goodwill. Don’t ask me why. It was $8, it was new, and it fit.
Old friends in a small world. It had been a while since seeing someone I recognized out on the open road. Heading west on Interstate 70 in Indiana after a late night delivery, first a sprinter van passed me then my phone rang. This guys name is Dan. He is by far the most frequent person I run into on the road. We first met at the Bolt Express yard, and we’re now both former Boltheads. He had never seen my Load One logo but thought he recognized the configuration of my van. We had time for a nice chat and then he had to continue his run to California.
Hip pocket posts. More to come on bright lights that are too bright, a couple wildlife parks, and Graeter’s ice cream.
