Fuel for Thought
2nd Monday or 4th Saturday
Monday, part 2 or 2nd Monday. I heard this from a customer on Tuesday a few weeks ago. This customer was dreading every day he had to show up at this particular place of business. I am not sure why he dreaded going to work there, but he seemed indifferent to the needs of the business. My initial thought was, why not go to work elsewhere? I mean, if every day, 5 days a week, you are miserable, why not find other work that you could enjoy? You know the old saying, choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life. While this certainly does not mean you will not work at all, but instead that you will find some joy in doing the work and it will be a positive experience rather than a burdensome one. Turn your 2nd Monday into a 4th Saturday. Sometimes mindset can help make all the difference.
Upon further reflection, sometimes you have to work in an atmosphere that you despise if it means providing for your family. If your family relies on you to provide for them, it is your responsibility to work where you can, regardless of how you “feel” about the place if it keeps you and your family from being hungry and homeless.
Whether you refer to Tuesdays as 2nd Mondays (dislike) or 4th Saturdays (enjoy), you owe it to yourself and your family to do what you must to provide for you and/or them. Too many people these days are making financial decisions based on how it feels. Sometimes you just have to do work you dislike until you find the job you want.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
