We would go back to our old part time dream job of building houses. With an exception, Tod's knee replacement and subsequent problems would require building garden cottages.lol No climbing necessary. We would sell the cottages from our home on Main Street USA while I finish my expediting mystery novel and wait for a major movie offer.

Actually, the fact that this question came up is indicative of the general malaise that a number of us must be experiencing. It was so slow in Nov. and Dec. that everytime I got home to Detroit, it was like pulling teeth to get out. Location: location: the farther I get out, the better off I am! I took almost anything to get out of the state. I'm in GRR now, just to avoid going home.
The demise of the Big 3, will spell big trouble for a lot of us. I don't even do much of that work, and glad for it! It doesn't help matters that many seem to be flocking to this industry due to some mistaken belief that big steady money can be made.
It also doesn't help matters that companies still keep on ADDING trucks, offer cheaper rates (especially the FSC) and drive down the entire rate structure. The bottom line has not been that great!
I hope that we don't start seeing a lot of reposessed trucks and bankruptcies in the new year.:(

I would move to the scerene shores of Lake Superior near Ashland Wi. where I would open a small bar and grill, or open a chain of Taco Cabanas in the suburbs of Chicago.
Then I would Fish and Golf the rest of my life away. Not necessarily in that order.
