Why is it?

What a shame you feel that way. I can remember when Detroit was a vibrant and fun filled city.

It still is a vibrant and fun filled city.

It just depends on what you call vibrant and fun. If you like you are stepping back into time Berlin May of 1945, then it is a great place to see what it was like with the bombed out buildings (Michigan Central can pass for the Reichstag any day) with a stench of a dead city or if you want to relive the LA gang wars, Detroit is the place for you to see movie like shootings and special effects that are actually not movie special effects OR maybe you want to see inept people trying to actually governor like those politicians of the largest city directly west of us, Chicago but they can't seem to get past the egos and arrogant attitude about the 8 Mile demarcation.

Detroit is a great place, IT IS pure Michigan when you come down to it because what Detroit is like, everything east of Lansing and south of Mt Pleasant is just part of Detroit ... the rest we just don't talk about because it's boring.

All those landfills are now producing natural gas which they are selling at a nice profit.

Kentucky is so sparsely populated because they all moved to Taylor, MI, in the '50's and learned how to make the cars by day and the bars by night.

Those who did not make cars, drove truck and belonged to the "Road Rangers" club in Taylor. Lot's of knifings and shootings there.

Exactly, we kicked the riff-raff out of Kentucky back in the 50s. They went to Michigan. Look at Kentucky today. Look at Michigan today. There ya go. :D

Hazeltucky, the original land of hillbilly heaven from the 30's.

Layout, that money goes right back to Canada to pay for the rent on the garbage we are using as landfill here.

I have relatives in NYC that really looked forward to coming to Detroit. Too bad it is the way it is now. :(

Funny, I look forward to NYC...

Flint was a great place at one time. Back in the day when it was inhabited by Chippewa and fur trappers.
