You know, I am getting really sick of reading a certain poster's long and drawn out views on politics.

It's one thing for contributing members to express a view now and then on a topic of interest to them, such as religion, politics, sex, whatever. But it's quite another when a member joins an expediting forum to post incessantly about politics and never much of anything about expediting.

It seems this person is alone in her/his views, has alienated several members, and regularly insults the general membership as being stupid. You know, I believe in free speech here, and I think sometimes the powers that be go to somewhat disturbing lengths to quash the views and perhaps pettiness of some of the more contributing and more senior members. I'm not getting why this member hasn't been banned, as it seems to me some of the more worthwhile members, as far as contributing to the expediting industry and hence this forum, have been, and are banned for much less.

Does a member here really have to directly insult a moderator before something is done?

As long as the inane ramblings are restricted to the soapbox there's no real limit. You set the limit by choosing what to read and what to skip over. It doesn't take too long to figure out which ones have something to say, even if it's contrary to what you know to be true, and which ones can't say anything no matter how much they ramble on. Now, if you see the same things outside the soapbox that is a different matter and should be brought to our attention asap to be dealt with, usually by just moving it to the soapbox where it belongs.

I know I've been the cause of quite a bit of drama in the past, and I hope I'm not the one being discussed here. I know some have made comments to others about how they need to stop using certain illegal drugs. I don't always agree with everyone, but I try not to call names. Heck, OVM and I don't always see eye to eye but it didn't stop us from tearing into some bar-b-que and fish at Nicks. I was scared we were going to our tails whooped by some of those good ole boys out there when OVM said his grandparts or parents really didn't like Americans kinda loudly but it's all good. We got out of there unscaved. (I think is how you spell it. Cheri correct me if I'm wrong )

I've said it in here before and I'll say it again for those who may have missed it..As Joe said...I was born into bigotry and prejudice against non whites and Americans. As my grandmother once hinted when I met my present wife..."Can't you find a Canadian girl?" It's not easy fighting these internal battles in my mind!! It's a curse, But I am winning the war! *L*

As Ark said once....I was really glowing when I whipped out my Green card to show him and Robin! I endured a lot of beaucracy to get here but it was worth every cent...I love SD and America...(contrary to some ) Still am...I show a lot of people....ya know a green card is really green!

pj, what you're talking about is why the Soapbox is always my last stop on EO and only when time allows. For the most part the discourse is civil. But, the junior high school, name calling mental midgets frequently show up and suck the civility right out of the room. Sometimes it feels like we all become a bit dumber having to read the childish rants.

Having said that, I say leave them be. The upside is how much fun it is watching someone like Turtle take them apart. Much respect, oh Shelled One!

I'll hang out over in the expedite and truck section,I have a few tidbits that may help others.

There was no Sorpbox until Greg and I debated two sides of many issues.I have taken extended leaves for several resons,but enjoy fellow transportation professionals and their opinions.I may at times disperage a region or stereo type because of a comment from a member on California,like" I won't mind when it slips in the Pacific".

It's estimated that 25,000 people will die.Pretty cute,pretty ignorant and very bushian in a Katrina kind of way.If it's personal you would know it,I try to keep names out of it.

Sorry everyone, I thought I was more than clear as to who I am referring to, but apparently not.

I know of only one member who comes here with no contribution to the expediting field, but only to post their own political views in an attempt to try to educate the 'negative, intolerant, hypocritical, belittling, bashing, name-calling, ranting, complaining, whining, sarcastic, sad little circle of sheep puppets with lame opinions, ate up with stupid, and ruled by the ignorant', you know, those who happen to comprise our membership, in her view.

Surely there are political forums out there on the net to be joined, where perhaps one might find more support for their cause.

Gee I'm sure glad this 'intellectual and educated' individual doesn't lower herself to do any 'name-calling, and only posts civil replies', as I would hate to see what kind of spew would be coming from her otherwise!

But hey, if the powers-that-be don't think all the above is enough to get banned around here, that's fine, but perhaps they should also not be so quick to ban others whose posts at least some of the time, actually have some value within an expediting forum.

Don't apologized, this thread made more sense than a lot of others here.

I thought sh*t I p*ssed someone else off that I like, then I thought nope it must be someone else but then I thought it must be me and after that a few times, I was so tired I didn't care so I sent off a PM and then read it this morning to find out I wasn't the one and spent the day worrying if I can market my new BBQ sauce.

Whether or not Tallcal wants to admit it, he likes coming here and getting us going.

pjjjj, et al, again, as long as the posts in question remain in the soapbox and the pejoratives remain generalities they are not violations and do not warrant a ban. If they spread to other areas or if there are overt insults aimed at specific individuals appropriate action will be taken. At this point you just need to skip those threads and posts if you don't want to read them.

well there is a political based forum I know of if someone with no intrest in expedite/trucking might want to go to it. I'm not going to post the name yet because I don't know if that would violate the code of conduct, and I'm not trying to be funny by saying that I'm really not sure.

Oh if it is the person I think it is they told a specific person they needed to lay down their drug paraphenalia using specific terms towards specific people. Let's be honest with ourselves. We all know carriers read this forum. With also know there are very strick drug use policies in place by carriers and the government for good reason. It doesn't take much of that to raise suspicions. Even if it only causes said person to have to take and pass a drug test it's still an unneeded inconvience. If it were me and I found out the reason I hard to be drug tested was because of someone making false claims about my so called drug use I would want that person to reimburse me for my down time and out of route miles. Then again that's just me. That's was specific and to the point. Had someone said "your a buck toothed, four eyed, freak" I would just say to them grow up, but claiming illegal drug use can ruin a man's image very quickly. I think we all know in business a good image ranks pretty high on the must have list. Joke about it if you want, but deep down you know it's true.
