off topic as usual but relates to Joes last statements....

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced a new rule it says will make it more difficult for transportation workers to cheat on their required drug tests by requiring drug testing labs to analyze every test for tampering.

"We want to make sure there are no doubts about the ability of anyone working in transportation do their job as safely as possible," said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary E. Peters. "There is no margin for error when it comes to the safety of the traveling public."

Peters said the new rule would cover the nation's approximately 12.1 million transportation employers, safety-sensitive transportation employees, collectors, labs, and medical review officers. She noted that under the terms of the rule, labs would no longer have the option of testing urine samples for signs of cheating, but instead would be required to test every specimen for possible adulterants and urine substitutes.

"In addition, all collectors will be required to put in place new procedures designed to prevent tampering with drug tests," Peters said. For example, observation procedures will include checking employees for items designed specifically to cheat the test. The rule also requires collectors to observe all tests for transportation workers who return to their jobs after a previous test failure.

The Department will treat any invalid test results as the same as a refusal to be tested by any employee who admits to tampering with or adulterating their test.

The Drug and Alcohol Testing Final Rule was published June 25, 2008 in the Federal Register. The effective date of the Final Rule is August 25, 2008.

"We want to make sure there are no doubts about the ability of anyone working in transportation do their job as safely as possible," said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary E. Peters. "There is no margin for error when it comes to the safety of the traveling public... EXCEPT FOR THE TRAVELING PUBLIC ITSELF. "

Sorry... had to clarify what she REALLY meant to say. ;) :D

When I was in the Marines you had to take your cammi blouse off as they call it(button up camo bdu shirt) walk down the hall holding the empty cup over your right shoulder with another marine in just his undershirt following behind you, he watches you make your sample and close the lid, then you walk back with the cup of urine down the hall holding it over your right should. Talk about embarssing. I come from a home where all we say about it " I need to be excused".

Back to topic. What OVM posted that drug use amongst porfessional drivers isn't taken lightly and false accusations of someone using drugs shouldn't be taken lightly either.

ark, that comment already was dealt with specifically.

Folks, your moderator team is pretty much on top of things pretty much all of the time. If I could keep up with the rest of those pros it would probably be everything all the time. There are going to be things that certain folks don't care for. They will vary from user to user as we all have different tastes and tolerance levels. The plethora of posts this thread relates to don't bother me. I can skip over them all as if they weren't there. What does bother me is there are people so deluded by the left and/or so full of unreasonable hate they espouse and believe the stuff. It doesn't bode well for our future.

Leo,I'm probably the leftist poster around these parts. But I have never used the word hate to describe anyone or anything. I save that word for a rainy day that I hope never comes.
However, you simply cannot make a single post with out talking about Koolaid,or brainwashing or attacks on the left that are so completly out of step with the direction our country is moving that it really demeans anything of merrit you may say.Perhaps I'm just so completly confused by the blinders on so many on this transportatioin forum that when a thread like this comes through, the intolorance rise's in the midst of a conversation about tolorance. I feel your pain,as I have often said, but the left is the cure for the overwhelming pain inflicted on all of us by the current admministration.I feel for you,as I said, and hope you will be able to bring something constructive the the good old Soapbox besides silly attacks that beley your intellegence and grace.

The only way that anything left would cure with this administration is to interject serious balance but as I found out today that will be a hard thing to achieve until we stop with the class warfare and the hate the rich and achievement in this country - plain and simple.

AND the word hate is correct in that paragraph, because hate blinds people more than passion does.

Balance is needed not a socialist leaning cure for the woes of people who need to have real opportunity.

OK folks,

I'll step in and take the blame. I'm the one who makes the final judgement call in most cases.

I do not discuss the reasons people are banned. Period. That is between them and us.

As for what is said in this forum.

When I created this forum after many requests, what folks wanted was a place to come and spout off their passionate, many times controversial views without fear of them being deleted.

As Leo and others have said, as long as they are political views, and are kept to this forum, we pretty much let them go.

This is what I was asked to provide, and what I have tried to provide.

However......

If you WANT a forum ran as strictly as the others.....

Didn't think so.
