when i had my ud 1800, i broke down half mile from the customer
and lost clink and electric power and only had 4 way flasher and cb working, cross way's in road on a major highway in dunkirk new york
and roberts express paid the tow bill to del and i paid for tow to dealer, local police came up and ask what is the problem, said the truck quit, he call a tow truck company and they said it would be 4 hours before we could get to that truck, they said you are coming now and a state trooper escort the tow truck to me and still made del on time,

then the tow truck drive was asking me if i was from lowville ny
said yes, ask me if i knew so and so i said i did ,
well he help me when i broken down there and didn't charge me
what he could have, and said return the favor , so he tow me to
dealer for what roberts express paid for , and dealer was someone my dad knew and cost me $50. for repair, and all it was how the clink was hook up that cause the problem

If that is your stance, then i'd imagine you are setting yourself up for a little bubble bust'in in the future.

But actually, it's a moot issue anyway. If you have been running seventy seven cent freight for very long, you have already paid for that tow many times over.

It's the owners dime on this one!

Get the load there on time! Chances are you will do a lot of business with that same customer with whomever your leased to if you keep the customer happy.

If you have a lot of time before you deliver and you are not that far out, ask dispatch if you can assist in finding your own tow truck. Maybe you can save yourself a few bucks since you are flipping the bill anyway. Dispatch may have to find the quickest option and move on to the next problemed load, without considering the cost as much as you would. If it's a hot load, you have to go with the tow company that has the quickest response time. It's worth a shot!
