This is just a general statement and I dont want anyone to think they caused me to write this.
I admit that Afican Americans have been abused in the past. This issue is a bit more complicated than refering to the past. Today there is Racial discrimination and hatred on both sides. One of the reasons why I left my high paying IT job was because I had to deal with Racially motivated BS from Black coworkers and seeing where the Black community was being discriminated with. I knew many qualified Blacks and Whites not even given a chance due to a persons predudice.
There are always two sides to a coin.
There are both Black and White people that mooch off the welfare system and lead lawless lives. For the most part, most of the Blacks that I have known are Respectible Upstanding people, just like many Whites I have known through out life.
There still is slavery in America, mainly in the sex trade, but it has no Racial bounds.
The way I see it, some people need to find an excuse for their bad behavior, get respect they would otherwise not be able to get, and some people are just compliners.
If people would just try and see the good in people, rather than their faults, the world would be a much happier place.
For the most part I do agree with what you write. I would first add that those who are down and out should first look in the mirror to see where the primary problem is. Then they need to seek out the winners, find out what THEY did to get ahead, and follow that example, rather than looking for excuses.
Yes there is discrimination on both sides, it has to stop. Let the best man win should ALWAYS be the goal. Nothing should ever get in the way of the best.
I also don't agree that, at least on a individual basis, that there is "good" in everyone. The cold, hard, fact is that there ARE bums, there ARE lazy people and there ARE bad people. Each person must be taken on their own merit.
