I would agree with the above posts. That owner is not worth a minute more of your time. I may have asked them if they would like to "live" in a storage shed with little to no creature comforts or impose on family regularly. Then I probably would have asked them if they were using the same bank as the carrier that they are receiving setelments from. If his answer was no I would ask if they were just being lazy or were that uninformed of what services their bank offered. Find yourself a new owner that doesn't treat you like a piece of meat in the seat. There are owners out here that actually care for their drivers and take their comfort in to account when providing a truck.

If the above is true, then the fleet owner is pretty much an embarrassment. With regards to the pay issue, any fleet owner is going to to have a comdata account. Within a half hour or so, any amount of money can be paid to a driver.
I don't get this "have to wait on your money because you don't use a certain bank". Direct deposit usually can be set up at any bank, or money can be transferred to a J account, fee based Western Union wire transfer, use com-check etc. Banking errors can happen, but can be usually corrected on one or two business days. Anything outside of those parameters is basically bs and excuses.

The checks have limitations on amounts, so you write more than one depending on the total. Nothing complicated.
Probably should add, this would not be the way to normally pay drivers, but is a option if for some reason money owed was stalled.

the amount doesnt matter I just transfer it from my c/d to my account. according to my owner all owners make there drivers use the same bank. he thinks I fell out of the truck and bumped my head.

We once drove for an owner out of Ohio. We gave him a stack of bank deposit slips and pre addressed envelopes and he mailed our check directly to our bank.

I would run away from that owner as fast as my feet would allow me. You are setting yourself up to let them screw you out of your money.

When I turned (threw the keys in the scallywag's face) the keys in to his/her truck, I would look em square in the eye and say "It none of your business if I own a home or not BTCH! Oh, and take your bank and shove it where the sun don't shine!"

Problem solved! Next scoundrel?:D

The ACH drops from our bank to the owner ops now happen overnight, provided it is sent by 1900 EDT. There have been 3-4 issues even then this last year, but it just means that it took an extra day because of a server glitch. Not fun to explain to the owner op. That being said, no one has ever had to change banks for us in order to get paid in a timely manner.

I say-go pound sand !!!! I'd give up the truck before my home.

Absolutely agree with Leeza.
But I have to say the expression "go pound sand" is cracking me up - it's pretty odd, when you notice it, lol.

PS If the boss says you're stupid, it's only true if you keep working for him.

Not so true these days. If you have a job that pays the bills you had better be prepared to eat a little dirt. The next job may be a long way off. If the U.S. bond ratings are dropped soon the job situation will get worse. There is a scale somewhere on how much dirt must be consumed in relation to the available jobs.

I don't agree. Integrity is not a situational ethic, to be waived if impractical.
And if I did agree, I'd say I've eaten more than my share in previous jobs, so I should be ahead of the curve. ;)
But it's all hypothetical, because I love my job, and won't quit till they pry my cold dead fingers off the steering wheel. :)

I was only talking about the boss calling you stupid bit. I had to put up with far worse than that when I had kids to feed. I put up with because there were no other valid options as the time. When a new job came along, I changed. Other wise, the kids came first.

I don't have a job now, I run a business, or it runs me sometimes.
