"However, we do know that no weapons of mass destruction have been discovered and that Saddam was not friendly towards Osama".

We saw all the kurds he had gased laying in the streets dead. So, we dont really need to find the weapons. We saw the effects of the weapons first hand at that is much worse, I am sure you can understand that.

Didnt Hussein give money to suicide bombers families? I am sure he did. That is what you call a connection to terrorism.

Case closed.

LOL! It would be great if it was that simple.

It is a huge can of worms on which there are many different opinions.

People will start standing behind the President and other elected officials when we can go to the polls and decide who we want to vote for , not who we want to vote against . Bush got reelected because so many people voted against Kerry . The Democrats are now controlling Congress because people voted against the Republicans . The nation is in pretty sad shape when that's the way elections are decided .

Well this is not the first president elected this way and won't be the last until we get our cr*p together.

>How come mine sweepers cleared roads in Viet Nam but there is no >technology to detect roadside bombs ?

You know there was this guy named McNamara who for some odd reason decided to have weapons (M16) designed to save the goverment money and no one seems to care about how many were killed then, but he is the librals hero because he appoligized for Vietnam.

Odd though that the Clinton administration was in part at fault for a lot of the problems we had with the military equipment seeing that there was no way that the suppliers could produce the equipment in the short time during the bush administration first few years.

I agree with the issue that we should be able to detect IEDs but we also should have not allowed the cellular system to work after we started to occupy the country and issued shoot to kill orders for people crossing the borders there - but h*ll should we expect a secure border in Iraq when we can't or won't do that here?

I have posted here several times letting people know how much the bad attitudes are hurting us OVER HERE in Afghanistan and Iraq. People just don't seem to care.

If they can say "They support the troops" it makes them feel better about themselves I guess, never mind it is actually causing more troops to get hurt / killed. Bottom line for those of us in these places...

If you are not supporting what we are doing, the you DO NOT support us. Most troops here do not want to be pulled out. We see every day the TRUTH of what this is about. We also see the impact the public opinion polls the media broadcasts have on the morale of the bad guys. When they see that %50 of the US people are against the war, it causes a surge in activity. This makes things more dangerous for us. But, people who "support us" really don't care about that, they are just wanting so badly for this administration to look bad that they continue on the path they are on.

NEWSFLASH:

If we don't do this now, it will be 10x worse a few years down the road, and then you WILL have a draft, and we will all be eating a big old Sh*t sandwich. I know, it is easy to believe this is all a big story from sitting at home or in your truck in a truckstop, or hotel room, but its a fact folks. I am sitting here in Kabul Afghanistan typing this... I KNOW what is going on.

If we show weakness in what we are doing now, we are just flat out screwed. Once again, this is a WAR. its not quick, or easy, or neat. Wars are messy, terrible things and no body knows this better than the people on the ground. But, despite this, re enlistments are up, and the vast majority of troops are volunteering to do more tours over here. That is because they understand what the truth is, and what is at stake. It is not as John Kerry would have you believe, because we are stupid., and have nothing better we can do with our lives.

Respect the troops, not by trying to get them out (against their will), but by actually supporting them and the president, and letting us do the job and get it done.

One other thing. KBR (Kellog, Brown, and Root) who run a lot of the things at the bases here is a great asset. I don;t give a crap who owns it. The do cleaning of latrines, cooking, laundry, base maintenance, and other things. In Knadahar, the best food I ever ate at a Mess Hall was that prepared by KBR folks. It is the only place I have ever been forward deployed when I actually gained weight.

If you send a Battalion into combat, and need to bring all the support stuff with you, you may end up with 600 out of 1000 people as shooters. the other 400 are doing things like cooking, cleaning latrines and such. The way it is now, they can field 900 shooters, because the other stuff is being done for them.

Just something to think about.

Way off base I think Jarhead. Blame the people who flew airplanes into buildings here and killed about as many people in ONE DAY, as we have lost troops in 6 years for this war. How soon we forget.

Aviator, I sincerely appreciate what you and everyone else are doing over there. I also appreciate when you take the time to post here. It amazes me how people find it impossible to understand what you are saying when it is so clear and so true and yet after so clearly explaining not taking soldiers away from being soldiers to be toilet cleaners instead you get another post arguing about it. Please continue sharing the truth with us. We certainly don't get that from the media at home.

Our daughter has been in Iraq almost a month now and when get her emails and her phone calls you can see or hear the pride in her voice or writings We have met several of the people she was deployed with and where once again amazed at their attitude and several had been over there more then once. None of them liked leaving their families but all knew they had enlisted and they had a job to do. We also feel it doesn't matter what you think of the president he is the president and we should support him. Greg did pretty much say it all though. It makes me ill when I think that our daughter is over in Iraq so all of us can say what we want or even bad mouth the president. There is something wrong there we need to support our country or need to move on and find a better country that is out there.

The people who did the attack are off laughing their donkey off about how we went off on our vendetta against Saddam.

You better believe they will re-group.

Aviator, ditto LDB's post for me. You are VERY appreciated. This is an enemy unlike any we have fought. Even if Iraq is wrapped up in the next couple of years, the larger battle will be something my grandchildren will probably be dealing with. It should continue until these animals are extinguished.

Infidels ROCK!!
