Took a Load of Rubber Floor Mats (4) mats on One Skid from Nashville to South of Ft.Myers to Ford Motors which was located along a Dirt Road Way back in the Woods. Was met by Security at the gate where they escorted me way back into the Woods to a small Building which was also surrounded by Armed Guards. The Security Guards wouldn't let me out of the Truck But Instead took the Keys to the Padlock, Broke the Seal and Off loaded it into the building. Then was excorted back to the Entrance where they brought me out My paper Work!! Now How Wierd is that??

All I know about that Ford place is that it has a test track there. I knew guys who delivered air shipments from Tampa to that site. usually it was several skids of special tires.

couple strange ones.... picked up in kalamazoo drove to detroit, up 75 accross 696 down to 94 and back to kalamazoo... no stops .... was testing packinging .
recently picked up in chicago and delivered to topeka ks.. 4 skids of lifesaver candy. guess somebody had a real 'sweet tooth' to pay expedited rates for that.

Second one has me a bit puzzled: 2 skids, each about 3' tall, of brand new, flattened cardboard boxes. That's right, cardboard boxes....empty ones. PU in Louisville, KY, delivered today in Lathrop, CA. Empty friggin' boxes over 2300 miles.
No one knows how to make cardboard in CA, I guess. When I got there, receiver says they make all types of plastic bottles for liquor. These boxes hold the very small (I call "airline serving size") wine bottles. They had to shut down the line for 1/2 hour until we got there, and we were there 1.5 hours early.
More money than brains, I guess. I'm happy to help them part with it, tho

How about:
-250 pounds of McDonald's Monopoly game pieces (probably had a million dollar winner in there!)
-A helicopter engine
-Half a million bucks of silver nitrate
-4 bricks, yep, we even picked them up at the airport, they were important bricks!
-Sheet metal for a satelite LA to Titusville, FL
-Ping golf club putter mold, the original, made in 1957
-Full truck load of kitchen cabinettes from Louisianna to Manhatten, NY just 1/4 mile from the World Trade Center site
-An LG load consisting of one dryer and one washer base
Just to name a few!

Oh, I forgot about the one block, yes, one city block run that we hauled 500 pounds of plastic strapping material in Denver. We ran 75 miles to pick it up. What was strange is that both places were wharehouses and they had a bunch delivery trucks at each place!
We also picked up 85 42" LCD TV's from a terminal. We ran over 250 miles to pick it up and 4 miles to deliver the load. The terminal had all kinds of trucks available to do it and the manpower, but we got paid pretty good to do it. The load went to a Holiday Inn being remodelled and luckily, a lot of guys to unload them by hand because we don't have a lift gate!

I had forgotten about the little plastic baggie of VERY small drill bits. About the size of paper clips. About 12 drills in the bag. Asked shipper guy if they had a bigger bag or box that I could put them in so they wouldn't get lost in my van. He scrounged through the trash and got a box about the size of a shoe box. Put it in the van and strapped it down and away I went.

When I was at FedEx Custom Critcal I picked up the gear for the rock group Pfish. Well, I got there and opened the stage door to have a cloud of smoke smelling like pot hit me in the face. I think I got a contact buzz because I fell off the back of the truck. My cousin who was my co driver at the time was laughing his butt off. Well, he drove out of the pickup after that.

I kind of forgot about the knee replacement part I delivered to Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati once. The guy was being prepped for surgery when I showed up with the plastic crate. I carried it as far as I was allowed to go and someone grabbed it from me and went straight into the OR with it.
I found out later that the guy had a knee replacement done a few days earlier and he was still having a lot of pain and he came back in to have it checked out. They found some sort of infection in there and took him straight in to remove the implant and replace it. While that was being done they also ordered the replacement part to be expedited from DePuy Orthopedics, which luckily is just across town. When I told my wife that I was on the way to the hospital with an urgent delivery and she asked me what I was taking there I replied, "Someone's knee."

Hockey sticks to Boston. 500 plastic buckets (Red Cross supplies) to Lady Lake,Florida after a hurricane. 4 tires to a Toyota test track in Arizona desert. Last week, a one pound envelope of newspaper inserts to Wisconsin. Never know what's next. That's part of the fun.
