Well landstar seems to handle more versatile freight with the service centered around a number of industries.

Fedex on the other hand is multiple solutions company centered on a focus of small/medium business or one stop shopping for simple shipping solutions on a retail level.

Panther seems to be leaning towards what landstar services and don't seem to branch out to servicing single small shipments on the retail level.

We will take a truck with purple fenders! Condition and maintance is far more important and logical to us than exact age. I have seen great 8 year old trucks and junk that is 3 years old. You need to have a policy based on common sense.

And while there are ever so many companies there are also ever so many trucks, the actual topic of the thread, so with that let's get back on topic and take company discussions to the company forums and/or PM and/or threads actually for that topic. Thanks.

I just sold a 2001 Pete Coe. I'm buying a 2012 Volvo. I'll do handstands if the Volvo gives me close to the dependability or fuel mileage of that old Pete. Fed did not ask me to get rid of the truck. Although it wouldn't rank among the most famous people took pictures almost weekly. Diseldiva took a pic long before I knew what EO was. She posted it here. So doesn't that make it a little famous ?

Yes it does, and Dieseldiva's truck made it onto the pages of EXPEDITE NOW, EO's magazine TWICE!! so that might make it famous also.

The problem with fame of any kind is that it is fleeting. This is especially true with trucks because their lifespans are short. The great trucks of yesterday have been bumped out of mind by today's great trucks, just as today's greats will be bumped out of mind by tomorrow's.

What makes a truck famous? As with any other object, a famous truck is famous because it occupies mind space in large numbers of people. A famous truck is famous because it is widely known.

In that regard, I suggest that Glen and Janice Rice's Lil' Deuce Coupe is one of the most famous trucks ever. Its brilliant yellow color got it noticed every day on the road. Its big-sleeper, little-box configuration got it talked about. The truck appeared in truck shows, other events, trucking magazines and product calendars. The dramatic story of its destruction in a horrific accident made the national news and added to the legend.

Don't know if you were keying in on me john but if so they are blue. LOL I do the same thing when someone calls it gray instead of silver.

Fame is fleeting and I guess publicity in some eyes is fame but it still fades away after awhile. People only remember when reminded after it passes. Glen and janices truck was awesome but people forget till it is brought up. Then its oh ya I remember that. Also you don't always get remembered, our truck doesn't ring a bell to anyone and it has been in expedite now more than any other. Does anyone remember ? I doubt it. As the old saying goes famous in you own mind.

The Caffee's Cascadia is pretty well known. Been to some shows and it has some subtle custom touches that the well trained eye can appreciate. It's envied not for it's flashiness like most trucks talked about here but for it's profit potential. And at the end of the day that's why most of us are out here.

Yeah, back on topic: Most Famous Expedite Trucks.

For me the most famous and well known expedite truck isn't a truck. It isn't even famous although it has appeared twice in the Expedite Now magazine. Both times the moron owner was hogging the photo. Its the Mootmobile, a lowly white cargo van. Since I went off topic by introducing a van to this thread about trucks, I'll push it just a little bit further: Ban The Van!

I think it is a question that has no one possible answer. So many trucks deserved to be ranked up there for different and varying reasons. Part of the great part of the individualism that we see in the expedite industry.

I thought the truck eo gave away at the expo years ago might have been mentioned.
I wonder who owns that truck today and what they are doing with it?
