Ted Williams: Homeless Man With Radio Voice Getting Job Offers

The new year's first viral video star is Ted Williams, a homeless man from Ohio, whose amazing, radio-perfect voice has awed people from around the world.

Williams was known for panhandling with a handmade sign announcing his "God-given gift of a voice." After hearing about him, The Columbus Dispatch paper stopped by one of his known panhandling haunts to record him saying voice-over phrases, like "coming up next!"

The bedraggled Williams' appearance only made his voice seem that much richer. Days later, millions have watched the video.

After having commented yesterday about the story in the loading dock, what need would there be to comment on a repeat....and what does this story have to do with politics that you would expect comments on it "here in the soapbox"??

As someone suggested a while back, maybe you really should try reading some of the other forums once in a while.

Did you even consider I wasn't refering to you? Those that have commented in the Loading Dock are not one's that typically comment here, in the Soapbox. I was surprised that ones that normally are here commenting on other subjects hadn't responded here or in the Loading Dock for that matter.

and what does this story have to do with politics that you would expect comments on it "here in the soapbox"??

I don't know.....maybe the description of the Soapbox at the top of the page, in which I have quoted below for your reading pleasure. Here's an idea, ask the moderators to make a new title, "Thread Placement Moderator" and to put you in charge of that duty.

The Soapbox Got some to say about politics, the state of the world, what's happening today, just need to express your opinion? This is the place to do it! Just keep it civil!

As someone suggested a while back, maybe you really should try reading some of the other forums once in a while.

May I ask how you would even have the slightest idea what my browsing history may or may not be here in EO? More importantly, why do you care?

Now you have gone and tainted what was a feel good story with your disgruntled remarks. *sigh*

If you wish to refer to someone specific you should consider sending them a pm....otherwise, it's still a public forum.

Wonders never cease now, do they?

Most times moderating is not warranted, at least when common sense is used.....

The story isn't "tainted", it remains pure in the loading dock where it was first posted.

For someone that has often accused me of not reading all of the material posted in one of your threads, you sure missed the boat here, not only did you miss Dale's post in the loading dock but when he tried to politely call your attention to it in his response to you.....

it appears that you missed that too......

The job thing is sort of a good thing, cleaning himself up is another sort of a good thing but it is not a great story by any means.

What is a great story are the millions of people who don't turn to a way out with drugs and alcohol but fight with everything they got and sometimes succeed. Those are not the stories you hear about and when you do, it is about their demise, not their triumph.

What about quicken loans helping out families who they are foreclosing on? I know a few who struggled, trying to get that company to at least give them a few months break but now are living where ever they can. A big hypocritical PR move by them.

How about those job offers be given to others who need a job?

I think sometimes, something like this comes along and it's obvious (to some) that God's hand is all over it. I believe he's been given another chance at a better life and perhaps God likes doing things this way once in a while so that those who WILL see it will recognize it as being Him.

It's not for us to question offers to others, maybe it was simply, his turn.

Really, are you sure you're not mistaking me with someone else? Because I really can't recall a time I've done that with you:confused:

ummmm.......yeah, I did miss were Dale had put in his message about the loading dock. My attention was on his "Awesome story" comment and I commented on that. And I did take a quick look at the other forums to see if anyone had posted the story. I missed that also, but I really didn't feel that it was necessary to search every forum for the story before I posted it here in the Soapbox. That a problem? It wasn't posted here and I thought it was a good story, so I posted it.

So let me get this straight, a story posted by two or more members of EO cannot be posted in more than one of the many forums of the EO community, is that correct?

Nope, didn't say that, just giving you the same "jazz" that you give everyone else when THEY make a mistake.

He definitely has a narrator's voice and as they say a face for radio. I hope he takes full advantage of his opportunity and doesn't make any of the same mistakes again. I wonder if he likes to play baseball?

Really? Sort of a good thing? Not exactly sure what you mean by that?

but it is not a great story by any means.

Really? Jeez, maybe not the greatest story ever, but I think it's a pretty cool story.

What is a great story are the millions of people who don't turn to a way out with drugs and alcohol but fight with everything they got and sometimes succeed. Those are not the stories you hear about and when you do, it is about their demise, not their triumph.

I hear success stories like that, just tune into Extreme Makeover, Home Edition on ABC. I hear stories like that elsewhere also, you just have to listen. Plus, those kind of stories don't get you ratings and pay the bills, so they are somewhat hard to find in the media.

What about quicken loans helping out families who they are foreclosing on? I know a few who struggled, trying to get that company to at least give them a few months break but now are living where ever they can. A big hypocritical PR move by them.

Maybe they have, maybe they haven't, I'm not in the organization to know that kind of information. I have to tell ya greg, I am a bit surprised with you wanting a corporation to help people out with a loan that they knowingly and willingly took out. I've heard you comment on people being stupid for taking out loans they shouldn't have taken out in the first place. I will agree with you on one thing, it is a PR move and a brilliant one if you ask me. The Cavaliers can use any good PR right now. A hypocritical PR move? I'm not sure what you mean by that. Care to expound?

How about those job offers be given to others who need a job?

If they have a talent such as Mr. Jackson's, I'm sure they are more than welcomed to look for employment with the Cavalier's or anywhere else for that matter.
