Did you say 147 inch tv screen? As in like 12.25 feet?...with all due respect, isn't that making a pig out of yourself? ?....lol... over indulging? ?..obsession at its finest. ..lol..

Laredo WTF was I thinking !!!

That's what I said when I was down there. I'd like to know why we can't get freight out of there. Even if u had to sit there all week Jeremy would almost always get u out on the weekend. We need to figure out the problem. Used to make good money coming in and out of there.

It's called the market. Northbound is slow. Southbound is running hot. It shifts based on a number of factors.

I guess I'm just going to turn & burn. We lose too much opportunity sitting potentially for a week. If I had a choice, I'd rather run out off Laredo for 75 cents than sit for a week for nothing. I assume that if I tell bidding to bid me low JUST out of Laredo, that they won't do it?

I'm sure your right John, you know more about that end of things than I do. But what's frustrating is after 8yrs of doing this I thought I had a pretty good grasp on what works for us and what don't. Like where and where not to sit based on what times of the yr it was. But what used to work for us isn't working any more to much of the time now. It's almost like we have to relearn all over again. It's weird!

Look at your past records in quarterly increments and i bet you see a pattern. I know mine change quarter to quarter.

Laredo is pretty easy to figure out. The other border towns, too. As far as expedite loads are concerned, what goes INTO Mexico is a lot of small loads, and what comes OUT of Mexico is mostly truckload and train car load. So you will always have more people delivering TO Laredo than you will getting OUT with a load.

Very true. The other problem is you see a number of expedite carriers that will bid the loads extremely cheap and then consolidate them into straight trucks or more likely semis. Great profit potential for the carrier. Now what does that do for all the small trucks down there........

My last 4 weeks in a BIG nutshell and the things I am thankful for. A great load from Buffalo, NY to Nogales, AZ...made it to Albuquerque, NM...truck ovetheats but I was able to limp to a shop that came with a great recommendation from a fellow driver, only at the time I didn't realize I had accidently found the shop he had suggested. Found out the following day that my engine had blown (talk about a gut wrenching feeling) but I was glad I was not out in the middle of the desert in the middle of the night on the side of the road... .I am thankful that the initial shop swapped my load on their dock and didn't charge me a dime... After a couple of days of trying to figure out what I was going to do, I thought I was just going to junk my truck and that was sickening for me... and while I was walking back to the shop from my hotel I was thankful for not getting abducted because had I made that decision to jump in that econoline van, because I thought that guy was going to the shop on the deadend street that I was walking, I might not be telling this story. So for that, I am thankful and thankful I was on the phone because at the time I wasn't scared until I saw the guy turn around and not go into the shop I was headed for but indeed he turned around and went back out the way he came (that's when the reality hit me after his 4 attempts to get me to get into the van.) Made my way to the shop and they were so nice and helpful and called police and made sure to drive me back to my room. ..so I am thankful to be alive..now back to the blown engine....I am thankful that I had a place to stay for 3.5 weeks...nice people and great service....i am thankful that I was on a busline that was only 2 bucks a day all day...I am thankful for the salvage guy that really didn't want to "steal" my truck for $3,500 and he called his buddy at the dealership and got a price and said could be shipped in about 10 days...I am thankful for the parts manager who was honest with me to tell me it would take 2 months to get done in the shop and he recommended a great shop to put it in rather quickly and I'm thankful for that shop for having the knowledge to do the job correctly. ..I'm thankful I had nice weather on my unplanned summer vacation. ..I'm thankful I have my truck. ..I might be waiting for a load in El Paso, Texas of which I deadheaded 285 miles but I don't care...I'm glad to have my truck back and MOST OF ALL, I AM THANKFUL FOR JOHN K.ELLIOTT II AND LOAD ONE. All that would not have been possible. ..I could have been bankrupt 1500 miles from home, no shelter, not knowing a soul. I am truly thankful. ...so some of you might be a little bummed that you have sat a few days or you might have to deadhead a little ways to get into a better freight area.....just know it could always be way worse with some other Joe Blow company that doesn't give a crap about its owner operators or drivers. Just please be thankful...I know that I am.

That's what makes Load One one of a kind! An owner that sees more profitability for the units to be on the road than broke down! John has done myself some favors in the past also and I'm sure others of y'all out there have enjoyed the perks of Load One! Sometimes it's rough but Load One is truly the best company I've worked for, I've been here almost 4 years now and I hope to build a fleet of trucks on with Load One and grow with Load One! Top Notch John! Thanks Sir...

We do get freight out of there, it just takes awhile sometimes, as you and I know, much longer than some have patience to wait it out. It can be tough down there. If I can do a load down and back out in less than 2 weeks I am fine with that, as long as it is a decent rate, and has decent miles to it, like Detroit and back. I think the real problem is the cheap freight rate carriers down there, and the drivers who come out of there for ridiculously cheap rates, right out of the gate. I'm not saying expect full rate every time out of there, and bending on rates within reason should be expected, but don't get stupid about it, either. I wonder how many semi carriers are putting let's say, 20 expedite loads on a team truck for like, 3 bucks a mile, just to use a figure. How many loads I pick up in Detroit that originated from these type of carriers with loads from like Mexico, only for me to take it the rest of the way to it's final destination.

IMO they should....you are the owner operator, they work for you, you work for them.... teamwork..

BTW we have an O/O who ran a load for .76 outta there and the next van in order went for .80 as I was #3...and we spent a week down there.....a fun week at that, very good people.
