Its going to die anyways, take the easy way out and spray a few ounces of round-up and watch it die a slow death.. After all it forced you into a full summer of hard labor.
Once round-up takes effect call Ken home and he can till it under for you. All done and from your easy chair you can say its finnished.

Spraying roundup also puts it into the ground. I tear my plants out, and throw them into the compost pile. Except for tomato plants, that is. Those can carry disease to the pile.
