So many reasons not to use the flying hook, from them catering to the camper set, to long and slow lines, now this is the 1st time I've heard of anything like this happening, but I really believe this could happen, but the real reason I'm not useing,my huge discount at the T A,this week my FSC paid for all my fuel bought, and even had money left.Thankyou TA truck stops

I know the feeling Steve, last night we paid $2.92 a gallon using our discount at TA in Roanoake, Va and friday paid $3.17 a gallon in Barstow, Ca....made money off the FSC last week...I too say thank you TA and Schnider for the discount.

I can't say I like ANY of the truck stop chains. The "J" tends to be a bit cleaner than most of the others but not clean enough for my liking. I like our fuel discount at the TA's but they are soooo run down and dirty for the most part, I do really like the one in Albert Lea MN, what a class place. They even have help at the desk when you need it. Pilots have been going down hill since I started this business 3 years ago. I kinda just use what is most efficent for me at the time. Are you suggesting that when I leave my truck ON the fuel island, have dinner, then shower, then rewrap my turbine and then stop on the way out to talk camels to some of my buds that I am discourteous to my fellow drivers? You Americans ars so uptight.

P.S. Shower is only bi-weekly..

Unless you are rewrapping a turbine engine and talking about camel cigs, this is a really awful and racist thing to post. I guess according to you it is them arab people who tie up the fuel islands. I beg to differ. The tieing up of the fuel islands is done by all races and both sexes out here. You showed your true colors here, some of these turbin wearing people are even citizens and here legally! You go ahead and make your racist comments I see no moderator has a problem with those here.

Thank you Doug for pointing out the totally ridiculous, racist remark made by wallytrucker and the inappropriate reply by tennessehawk. Uncalled for and unacceptable in my opinion.

I really haven't cared to much for "Arabs" to much since 9-11. I haven't cared too much for Vietnamiese people since my return from there in 1971. I don't care to much for illegal aliens after watching what my country has become. Yes I have biases, prejudices and dislikes for some of those among us and some surely feel the same towards me. At least you know my "true colors" as you call them, but I'm sure none here have any prejudices,etc..
I won't post again and I do apoligize for spelling turban wrong but proper grammar has never been a requirement on this board, but you correctly understood my intent.
Good luck to all you expediters, I wish you all success.

Illegal aliens are cool. I saw a few of them one night when I was making my way through White Sands New Mexico. One tried to jump up on my side step (this was back in my truck driving days) but I just kept on going. lol

Hey Wally:
Please don't stop posting because I made that remark. I didn't think yours was appropriate but that doesn't mean you need to quit. I understand your fellings with the Vietnam war and 911. Just remember all Arabs didn't do it and alot if not most that live and work here didn't approve of it either. It is funny i grew up in a pretty racist house my dad was from the hills of Kentucky near Elkhorn City. He hated Black people with a passion. Then a funny thing happened when he was Coon Hunting (Please no coon jokes) near Baldwin Michigan. His dogs got lost and we couldn't find them for a couple of days. They had collars with our phone number on them. An old Black Gent named Sam Snipes found them and called after we got back home. we couldn't get back to get them for a couple of weeks, he took care of them and Sam and my Dad became best friends.

When I had my Linen Supply Biz, I had customers that were of varied nationalities, Chinese. Arabs, Blacks, Jews, Albanians, Greeks, and people born here and probably some others I missed. I found that there were some I really liked some I tollerated and some I really disliked. My point is, In all these races of people, the ones I liked, disliked, and tollerated fell into all of the groups.

In fact some of the people I met that were the maddest on 911 were the Arabs that live and work here.

Again Wally I am Sorry

Just so you know the following comments are coming from a person who is a veteran of the first Gulf War. I guess Doug and I are in the minority here in thinking that the comments that were made by you and Tennessehawk (a Moderator) were uncalled for considering the original post was about an incident that happened at a fuel desk. I've always liked it when people excuse themselves for being jerks because they say, "At least you know I'm a jerk". Just because you admit you are jerk, doesn't give you the right to be a jerk.

Definition from Merriam-Webster: prej·u·dice (1): preconceived judgment or opinion (2): an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge b: an instance of such judgment or opinion c: an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics.

I don't know......that pretty much sums it up. Educate yourselves and try not to fall into the masses, have an original thought and do your thinking for yourselves. To me I find it appauling that a "Mod" would read those comments (that had nothing to do with the thead) and not delete them but instead add to the unintelligent comments already made.

I would have to say that some of us have formed our opinions thru experience.

When you give your opinion on something, you offer a conclusion or a judgment that, although it may be open to question, seems true or probable to you at the time :) she was known for her strong opinions on women in the workplace).

Just because it is not politically correct, it does not mean it's wrong.

So you are saying the above is an opinion? Sounds more like a statement.....what do I know though.

No what I am saying is, Seems like some of you (the outspoken few) need to take a deep breath and see the joke for what it was. Quite trying to make it a hate mongering thing. I rarely say the following but if you are so offended by what he said, and seem to want to turn this web site into your vision of what is right and wrong then maybe you would be better served going to a place on the web that fits more closely with your views.

I for one am fed up with vocal minority trying to control the majority. I guess my being blunt will also offend some of you, but I'm not worried about annoying people who get worked up over a HARMLESS joke.

Yeah......the "outspoken few" what a sad commentary that is. Quote from Jaminjim, "need to take a deep breath and see the joke for what it was." Ohhhh I get it, it was a joke but I don't get it. Since everyone else does can someone explain it to me? Thanks!

You and ONE other person thinks that it is a sad commentary. Maybe it's a sad commentary that you feel the need to speak for all of the down trodden, as thou they can't speak for them selfs.

My Signature line is what I'm talking about.

True. Everyone has the right to be a jerk, whether they admit they are a jerk or not.

Definition from Merriam-Webster: prej·u·dice (1): preconceived judgment or opinion (2): an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge...
I don't know......that pretty much sums it up.
Yes, it does, with the keys to that definition being "without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge." Yet I and my others have seen foreigners, who are unfamiliar, ignorant, or even disrespectful of local customs and do things that were illustrated in the postings. It is a statement made with just grounds and sufficient knowledge. There is a difference between mentioning someone of another race or ethnicity, whether it be in humor or in anger, and being racist. Simply because someone else is of another race does not mean you cannot talk about them, or their habits and customs.

Educate yourselves and try not to fall into the masses, have an original thought and do your thinking for yourselves.
It's ironic that political correctness, by its very nature, its very design, sucks people into the masses, squashes original thought, and discourages thinking for yourself.

To me I find it appauling that a "Mod" would read those comments (that had nothing to do with the thead) and not delete them but instead add to the unintelligent comments already made.

Well, actually, if you followed the thread, the comments did, in fact, directly address the content of the original poster's comments, as he commented several times about the how much time was taken on "what should have been a quick fuel stop". The thread followed a natural progression after that.

The comments in question may or may not be uncalled for, but they certainly weren't even close enough to being racist for anyone to get all bent out of shape over. If you don't pretend that differences exist between races and cultures, then you're a racist? Is that what it's become now? Just like if you don't wholeheartedly embrace and endorse homosexuality, you're a homophobe? Wow.

I don't understand why anyone would go to a web site that they don't like, or that would cause them aggravation. That does not seem like a good (fun, enjoyable) way to pass your time.
