Verifiable Experience

Hello all, was looking for some input. I stated in another thread that I had driven Class 3 - 8 vehicles for 20 years while in the Military where no CDL was required. In order to make this "verifiable", what if I obtained a signed letter from previous supervisor, on official letterhead of course, describing all equipment operated? All training records were destroyed some time ago and I can only find one supervisor who is still in that would agree to it. So, would this work?

Larry, good advice. I guess I better go do that.....lol. I'll keep you posted.

So I guess you signed on with somebody? And if I may ask, what do they take out for insurance?

I drove in the military and received a military drivers license with their version of endorsements. The license showed the vehicle sizes you were licensed to drive... ie... 1/2 ton 3/4 ton 2 ton 5 ton ...etc.
Your license or military records would indicate the year the license was issued and how long the license was in force.

I am not certain if this information would be accepted by the carriers insurance company but it would definitely provide verifiable experience.

Tom, when I retired in November of 2000 records were destroyed. Also, I was thinking that it probably does not even matter if I show up with my own authority AND insurance.
