Vehicle Maintenance Violations and Team driving

My wife ran with me all summer and now she's back home running her business. I dropped her off at the house and picked up a friend of mine who has a CDL and valid medical card to run with me. We got a load and I started out with him in the bunk. If I had been pulled in and cited for bad tires, exactly how could he have been in any way at fault since he had never stepped foot inside the truck before and I was driving the first shift?

Well it goes back to the problem facing the officers - they don't have the ability to time travel to see what the other person did or didn't do. Logs can be falsified, and with no ability to time travel the officer has to assume that everyone knew.

I may be wrong but I was told you can't start off as in the sleeper berth, which means the other person has to be either on duty or driving when they start their shift, so it even makes sense that both are charged with the same violation.

By the way I am not saying this is fair or good, I am saying it is just a number of problems we are facing with this crap but I also understand why.
