Thank you for having the guts and courage to say so.There are MANY fine American-Arabs in the Detroit area. I know a few.
I have no doubt whatsoever that this is true - and it might well explain why the CIA, FBI, and other various US government agencies had such a large recruiting force on the ground at Arab Fest in Deaborn. Most that I know have done WAY MORE than most native born Americans have to defend this Nation AGAINST radical Islam. THEY understand the realities, most here do NOT.
If you want to dismantle Radical Islam in the US (and elsewhere) then part of the way to do it might be from within ..... and that will never, ever happen unless the general environment here in the US is made safe enough for those Muslims that aren't radical (the vast majority, by far) to feel - at a minimum - not unwelcome in this country .... and thereby a part of us ...
Suffice it to say, there is little encouragement provided to those that could, or might speak, out against Radical Islam - when they themselves are categorized, lumped in, and/or treated in a similar manner (discrimination, etc.) as Radical Islamists .... or just simply viewed with utter disdain ..... by a grossly ignorant and ill-informed populance.
Despite that, there are some individuals/organization who are brave enough to speakout nontheless - to name but a few:
Dr. Tawfik Hamid and Tawfik Hamid (Wikipedia)
Tarek Fatah (CBC article)
Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam
Global Movement Against Radical Islam
Muslims Against Sharia
It doesn't particularly help matters to alienate potential allies, particularly given that those allies might well become the greatest force against those which are our mutual enemies ...
There is a somewhat insightful commentary on the problem by Sushant Sareen, a Delhi-based (India) journalist is here:
The war against radical Islam
I have no idea of his religion, if any (possibly Hindu but who knows .... or cares, for that matter) - I would assume he is an Indian national. At any rate, his analysis begs the question:
"What does one do to combat radical Islam ?"
and further:
"What could a non-Muslim do to combat radical Islam ?"
I would maintain that marginalizing those who might well potentially be the greatest foes of Radical Islam probably ain't any type of workable solution to the problem.
The closing sentence in the article is of particular significance:
"The war against Islamic terrorism has to be really fought within Islamic societies if a 'clash of civilisations' is to be avoided."
This is true. There are largely two sides within that war - one only has to examine ones own conduct to answer the question:
"Do my words and deeds contribute to the side that is against radical Islam, or are they, in fact, pushing people from that side towards radical Islam ?"
Again, also true. There are, however, radical Islamic groups operating in the US doing all they can to disrupt our fight against them and destroy this Nation. This is nothing new.
Indeed .... against enemies both foreign and domestic .....The "Shadow War" never ends.
(The general idea being that domestic enemies are those among us, not necessarily of foreign origin, who would advocate those things which are against the Constitution and traditional American values .... such as suppression of the right to free assembly and driving out so-called "undesirables" ..... )
I hope I understand you correctly - in that you are saying this as a general principal (and thereby not necessarily always true, but only true in the specific), and not specifically aimed at either of the articles I quoted.I am appaulled by that lack of honest reporting and out right LIES that are put out there as "NEWS".
If that is not the case, then please provide whatever evidence you have that either of the articles I quoted are "outright lies".
