Unions were very good at one point.They are now however past their time.If ever a plant or shop gets to unsafe or wages get to low the workers cans still strike.Now I know they wont have that union protection yet what would really happen when the whole company walks out?It will be cheeper for the company to pay the workers a dollar more an hour or update their safety programs then it would be to hire and train new workers.Think about it how do you all think the unions got started.Workers got tired of the crap and they demanded more.yes it took time but the companys listend.Sadly now though we have been taught to belive that with out the unions we can not do this.This simply is not true.
if a company were to go back to pre union safty and pay it would be that companys workers fault for allowing that to happen.How many of us has evry been in a truck stop and talk turns to rates and someone says all trucks need to park for a few days to show the owners what we as drivers are really worth.Now if every truck/van/hot shot parked for three days, store shelfs would start to go empty,Gas prices would hit 6 or 7 bucks in just days.This is a great idea sadly this will never happen.Why because as a whole drivers wont do this.We dont need unions to protect us.We only need to have the nerve as workers,as people to protect ourselfs.
Its funny really no matter what the talk is about there are always people who say with out this or that the worst will happen.The worst only happens if we let it happen!!
It is sad that there are some who belive there is only one man that is running for president that can save this country and our freedoms yet those very people belive that only the unions can protect them and keep companys honest and safe.By giving a private company which when it comes down to it is what a union is the power to speak on your behalf you are also turning over you rights to them to decide how you get paid how you rise up through the company you work at.Sorry the guy who got that promation was here for two more weeks then you does not matter that he comes in late all the time,and you have never been late. has faild more then one drug test and you have never done drugs.Again he has been here longer then you.
I remember the place I worked at in romeo mich was sold the new owner told us we could not shop at wal-mart because her husband worked at GM and the unions put out a list of places they were told they could not shop.Therefor she did not want her workers shoping there either.I asked her if she was going to pay the difference in the prices I paid for the stuff I bought she said no.I told her when she did I would stop shopping at wal-mart.
Maybe that is part of the problem with this country most people would rather pay others like unions to fight their own battles then to take a stand for themselfs.
