Watch your bill when you do that, mine has worked from under the seat and from inside the glove box in my wifes car........
Wrap it in aluminum foil it keeps the towers from reading it.
And ruin a perfectly good hat?
Overheard a conversation at the Des Plaines oasis while waiting in line at the I pass service desk. Service rep stated to a trucker that Illinois State Police, "can", and do check the I Pass system when they pull you over to verify log books if they see fit. Just another big brother for them to use against us if we have fudged a little
ohio tp weighs every vehicle coming into a booth. last nite i exited at 280 and the fee was 3 dolla and a class 1. later i exited the t-p in youngstown and the lady said $9.25. i handed her $10.25 and said you mean $7,25, right? no you were weighed and are over 7000 lbs. class 2. i said i had a ticket from toledo showing class 1. well it did not matter. class 2 and $9.25.
The Ohio Turnpike is in the process of reseting all of their scales in anticipation of EZ Pass. Once EZ Pass goes into effect, you will not know your class until you look at your billing. I have always been a class 1 until the past month. My van weighs exactly 6960 with a full tank of fuel. 9 out of 10 times I now get a class 2 ticket. If this happens to you pull over outside the booth and ask for a re-weigh. (I carry a recent CAT scale ticket with the fuel receipt showing the tank was just filled prior to the weigh) If they refuse, ask them if they a prepared to go to court and face a class action suit. They will let you re-weigh or give you a class 1 ticket.

The toll collector told me that they we re-calibrating their scales over the last month. So they must be trying to get their money as quick as possible before it goes into effect.
