We made a delivery at the hospital in Houma, LA. It's a neat little town and the people were very friendly. From the looks of the current track, they will be right in the bullseye zone.

Another crew of ParaMedic and EMT's just pulled into the parking lot, serveral hundred here now. Sure glad "BUSH" is doing nothing again this time. He did this same "nothing" last time. Lying sacks of turkey dung press. You should here what these people have to say about the "last time" Many said they almost did not come down this time after all the "CRAP" that was spread about the Feds lack of response during Katrina. Can't say that I blame them. At least the Governor here has made the proper request, in advance of the storm, to enable the Feds to move in. That did NOT happen last time. That is why a lot of aid was held up. The Mayor of N.O. is evauating the city this time. Watch what happens, if it goes well and there is not a repeat the Dems will say it was thier doing. If anything goes wrong it will be "BUSH's" fault. And the mean racist Republicans too. They are setting the demolition charges on the levees now, as we speak. Well I even bet that Spike Lee is fliming it. HEY!! Since Bush and "Whitey" blew up the levees to kill black people during Katrina do you think that Al Sharpton, Spike Lee and Osama Obama blew up the levees in the Mid-West? Time for a congressional investigation. Layoutshooter

This is wearing thin. You were not the only one on the ground during and after Katrina, and you are not the only one with strongly-held views to share. Republicans are, right now, debating the propriety of having a convention while Gustav is in progress; because they are sensitive the fact that people are in serious trouble today and it is best to focus on that, and not on politics. Might you do the same?

I have spent my entire life volunteering in one way or the other. Firefighter/rescue, EMT, forestfire crews, Hotshoot crews. And on and on. I have had to "PUT UP" with people badmouthing emergency services the entire time. I have had friends hurt and have just missed being hurt or killed myself on more than one occasion. Now I am getting payed to be here, but I don't have to be. If the Republican's choose to cancel or change plans it will have absoulutly no affect on the outcome of this storm. When I lived in Pennsylvania the Democrates in at the State level were trying desprately to do away with volunteer services. This move was being pushed and spearheaded by the public employee unions. When the public hearings came to our area I went to speak, along with over 4000 other "bad" people that were trying to take the jobs away from union(democrate) workers. Due to the public outcry and several Republican legislators those measures were defeated. You are right. I do get a bit out of control at times and I apologise for it. My only excuse is that I am fed up with it all. I got tired of seeing volunteers shot at when they when in to fight forest fires. I got tired of people getting in my way while I was trying to provide aid to a severly injured person. To take pictures or asking me, with an excited look on his face, IS HE DEAD YET? I got tired of idiots smoking next to a wreck where gallons of gas were spilled everywhere. (it was really funny when I put out his cigar with that CO2 fire exting, it was in his face when I nailed him.) I understand people are in danger, so were all the ones that were badmouthed and lied about last time. But again, you are right and I will not say another thing. Just mark my word, they will lie about it all again. Layoutshooter

Thanks Pelicn but that's old news. Over 2 years old. Nobody wants to read how the federal government was prepared and warned residents of New Orleans. We still want to hear about all the failures and who is to blame.

You should be ashamed of posting this old article. Especially just after the close of the Democratic National Convention and prior to the possibility of another hurricane hitting New Orleans. This is not the proper time to be attacking the anti-Bush crowd with truth. THIS IS AN ELECTION YEAR!!!! WAKE UP!!!

If we (civilians, politicians, and the media) could focus on "What should be done?" instead of "Who should be blamed?" we'd be in much better shape, no matter what happens.

I just spoke with Mr. Thibs via cellphone. He is currently piloting one boat
and his brother and father are following behind. They left Morgan City with
8 other boats at 5AM this morning. As of 1:30 PM they were running 1 mile
offshore and were located between Pecan Island and Cameron,La.
They are planning a western route possibly seeking refuge in the Sabine Pass
region. He says the seas are fairly calm with swells coming from the south.
His wife and all other family members left out in a caravan and have already
arrived in Monroe,La.

Exactly Moot! It still amazes me that the people of New Orleans blamed EVERYONE but themselves for the circumstances they found themselves in. Example: Those that went to the SuperDome, then complained about the conditions, had no one to blame but themselves. I remember watching a news conference and it was said..."The Super Dome is a place of LAST RESORT! These people were warned before hand just like they are being warned now.
Maybe this time the masses will heed that warning.

Rhetoric aside, I hope Thib makes out safe. I felt pretty good when it was posted the rest of his family was as far north as they were. Hope he gets into Sabine and it's not too rough there.
