Thought politics couldn't get any crazier?

I'll have to look some other time. I'm sure there are plenty of examples. In the meantime check out the Obama link I posted. Very disturbing race baiting by our supposed unifying president only a few short years ago.

OK, I read the article, in which the writer says it's race baiting - but I didn't see the vid, or read the actual speech, so I can't make any comment on whether it is or isn't. The writer didn't link to the speech he refers to - can you?

That was amusing - but do we know for a fact that it wouldn't happen? Maybe that explains Atlantis, eh?
Mr Johnson's fuzzy logic [from a clip, the context of which isn't given - what was he talking about, anyhow?] is not what I'm talking about - I'm referring to statements of well established and clearly, definitively proven fact that a politician disagrees with - got any of those?
Something on the scale of 'slaves were better off than they would have been in Africa', or 'women who get raped don't get pregnant because their bodies can prevent it' or 'a candidate who plays World of Warcraft is unfit for office' kind of outrageous?
What WAS that man talking about, anyway?!

Here ya go:

"Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package 500 million Americans lose their jobs." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi on a nation with 307 million people

"Today we have two Vietnams, side by side, north and south." - Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee

"It (marijuana) will still be legal under federal law." Senator Barbara Feinstein

"20,000 jobs is really not that many jobs." Rep. Jan Schakowsky

"The private sector is doing fine." - Barack Obama (with 23 million Americans out of work)

"If you take out the killings, Washington actually has a very very low crime rate." - Former D.C. Mayor Marion Barry

"The conventional viewpoint says we need a jobs program and we need to cut welfare. Just the opposite! We need more welfare and fewer jobs." - California Governer Jerry Brown

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." - Al Gore

There are plenty of similar examples - this is just a small sampling.

BTW, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) was referring to the island of Guam - worried that it would tip over and capsize from overpopulation if we added 8,000 US Marines in a military buildup. Poor guy is just plain stupid - no other way to say it.

Nancy Pelosi believes health care is an inalienable right given to us by our creator.
So does Hillary.
Harry Reid believes Democratic values more closely mirror Mormon values than any other political philosophy or religion.
Bill Clinton believes oral sex is not sex.

As I said, my vote for Pres and senator is a total waste of time. There is NO WAY Romney can win MI and Stabthemnow will win. I DID vote against her too. I voted for my congressman, just this once. We shall see what happens in two years with him. I also voted FOR my state rep. I have dealt with him in the past. He answers emails, for real, and CALLS everyone who writes him. Even have his sign on my lawn and have donated to his campaign.

I do agree on one thing. Romney isn't likely to do much in MI. Just too many union and "takers" in that state.

Just to follow up on the OP, Colleen Lachowicz, the World of Warcraft candidate for the State Senate District 25 of Maine, won the election yesterday against her opponent Thomas Martin. It is notable that she was able to raise a total of $6,300 in campaign contributions from gamers who came to her defense in her successful campaign. The Maine GOP even tried to block these contributions (charging she was illegally soliciting contributions to her PACs), but Lachowicz was cleared of any wrong doing and the investigation was dropped.

From the Bangor Daily News.com:
Buoyed by strong support from voters in her home city of Waterville, Democrat Colleen Lachowicz vanquished one-term Republican Sen. Thomas Martin of Benton to capture Senate District 25.

Lachowicz’s campaign attracted international attention after the Maine Republican Party created a website to criticize her participation as a player in World of Warcraft, an online fantasy game.

Gamers from around the world soon rushed to her defense, making more than $6,300 in contributions via the website ActBlue to two political actions committees that supported her campaign. Those donations prompted the Maine Republican Party to file a complaint against Lachowicz with the Maine Ethics Commission.

The commission determined Nov. 1 that Lachowicz, a Maine Clean Election Act candidate, did not coordinate with the PACs for the fundraising and voted 5-0 not to proceed with an investigation.

As of Tuesday, outside groups had spent more than $184,000 on the contest, according to Maine Ethics Commission figures. That’s the fifth highest amount of outside spending for a 2012 Maine Senate race, according to the commission’s data. Of that total, more than $81,000 was spent to oppose Martin.

Lachowicz outpolled Martin by more than 1,900 votes in Waterville. Overall in the district, she won by a little more than 900 votes.
