Veteran Expediter
Call yourself an expediter or whatever other fancy name (other than a truck driver) you choose to call yourself. Tell everyone that you haul high value freight, not the lowly grocery warehouse freight, etc "truck drivers" haul and you do it in your fancy custom rigs.
In the eyes of the general public do you think thats gonna gain you respect? Doubtfully with most of John Q. Public! Instead he/she simply see you as one of those nasty truck drivers in your dreadful truck (straight or T/T). You know the one that dangerously rode they're bumper for the last ten miles pushing them to go faster when you were already doing the speed limit. How about the truck driver(s) blowing by at seventy mph in a fifty-five mph construction zone. Better yet the truck driver(s) that are to animalistic and lazy to walk there fat [skinny and everything in between] A's a short distance into the building to p i s s! No, instead they would rather whip their vienna wiener out in front of my wife (and anyone else) and p i s s e d [urinated] between their truck and ours. I wish everyone of them were arrested for indecent exposure! Trash cans? Thats a foriegn object to most truck drivers today. And so on and so forth.
Point is, Dave Nemo and the drivers that call his show daily trying to gain respect of the general public, and the good professional drivers like so many of the members on this forum haven't got a chance in the eye of the general public when what seems more like the majority of drivers on the road today choose to act disrespectful in so many ways. Sadly more than not, its the disrespectful deeds of truck drivers that stick in the minds of the general public, not the good deeds.
You know its bad when truck drivers are ashamed of the actions of other truck drivers and no longer want to be associated with them or the trucking industry. Truck drivers disrespect truck drivers.
What got this started? Three nights ago we park in an Ohio Turnpike Plaza. One of the new ones to boot. In the course of forty-five minutes eight truck drivers park in front or next to us and proceed to p i s s in front of us in the parking lot. The building was less than 500' away! Why? As for tailgating truckers, [imaginitively speaking] the day is going to come (maybe sooner than later) when I don't care anymore and some stupid truck driver decides to ride my tail. He/she is gonna get the suprise of they're life when I suddenly slam on my brakes hard enough so that they rearend my rig. Them I'm gonna own them and the carrier they drive for. Remember, its the stepdeck trailer with the Abolish Alimony bumper sticker on its tail!
