The Trump Card...

She said it does not constitute double jeopardy for the state and feds to simultaneously prosecute these apparent crimes. And she said the the state may still do that even as the matter has been referred to the feds. The U.S. House Jan 6 committee is also known to be looking at this. That committee does not prosecute but it may unearth additional info that may be referred to federal prosecutors.

Hopefully, there's some serious deconfliction and coordination going on between the Jan 6th Committee and federal law enforcement, so they don't wind up stepping each other's toes.

The committee is very useful ... in that they can obtain information (for the American people and federal law enforcement) without having to deal with the limitations (probable cause, etc) federal law enforcement must, by necessity, operate under.

Glad to see the Committee has taken an aggressive approach.

No sidestepping needed here. The perpetrators made videos of themselves doing the deed and signed their names to the forged documents, and submitted the documents to the National Archives, which turned them over to state officials who now consider the documents evidence.

Yeah ... that's really ... awesome ... ;)

You totally owned those Lib RINO's didncha ? ... :tearsofjoy:

You should hope for more of those ... you know:

Getting rid of a moderate popular Republican ... in a Congressional District that Cook rates with a D+2 Partisan Voter Index

Maybe redistricting will provide a solution ?

State legislature votes down redistricting proposal

Hmmm ... seems like that's not looking too good.

And while you contemplate that situation further, allow me to share that - like the article linked above stated - currently in New Yawk - umm ... whilst congressional redistricting is taking place - the Democrats hold supermajorities in both the New York State Senate and the New York State Assembly ... so probably little real chance of any rescue there.

New York is losing a seat anyways ... so you probably won't miss Ol' Katko ... right ?

Unless maybe that great red wave you're expecting does not materialize come November for whatever reasons.

Perhaps that feeling you're experiencing above might be what is otherwise commonly known as a ... pyrrhic victory

:clapping-happy:

Katko Retirement a Boon to Democrats, Major Loss for GOP Moderates

On Friday, Syracuse GOP Rep. John Katko (NY-24) announced he won't seek a fifth term in 2022, citing a desire to enjoy his "family and life in a fuller and more present way." It's a boost to Democrats who have had fits trying to beat him in a blue-leaning seat. But more broadly, it's a major blow to moderate and anti-Trump Republicans whose ranks continue to shrink as there are fewer viable places left to win both primary and general elections.

Katko has thrived electorally since 2014 thanks to his reputation as a gang-busting former federal prosecutor and a consensus-builder who voted against ACA repeal and for the recent bipartisan infrastructure package. A small media market has helped him personalize his races, defying party labels. In 2020, he won by ten while President Biden carried NY-24 by nine - the biggest overperformance of any GOP incumbent in the House.

:tearsofjoy:

Yup ... Katko was clearly the guy that needed to be gotten rid of.

I'm sure the MAGA's will be able to convince the voters in the District - whatever it ends up being - that a REAL Fire-Breathing Trumper is exactly what they need.

Perhaps they will STORM !!! a few candidate debates while wearing tactical gear and sporting AR's ?

:tearsofjoy:
