Shortly after Trump was inaugurated, I predicted -- correctly -- that he would be impeached. I also predicted -- incorrectly -- that he would be convicted by the Republicans who had the power to remove him for office. With the benefit of hindsight, I misjudged the Republicans, I believed -- incorrectly -- that when confronted with the high crimes and misdemeanors the impeachment articles would detail, a sufficient number of them would put patriotism above partisanship and vote to convict.
