Is the massacre of 147 Christians in Kenya perspective enough?
We're talking Christians in the country we live in. Any massacre anywhere, for any reason, is a tragedy, but it is not relevant to this discussion.
Is the massacre of 147 Christians in Kenya perspective enough?
Awww, poor Christians, getting beat up on. You think it's appalling? How many of them have been beat up in public, simply for being Christian? Any one dragged to death behind a pickup truck, that you know of? Or even arrested, for what they do with other consenting adults in the privacy of their own homes?
How many have had to hide their religion from their boss, landlord, even family and friends?
A little perspective, please.
People who pray. It's a form of meditation for them. When they have to make a huge life decision, they pray because want guidance to do the right thing, and make the right choice. Sometimes that choice isn't clear to them without praying. It puts them in a calm state of mind so they can make their decision with a kind heart. If you told someone you were talking and making huge life decisions to someone you can NOT see or touch. .they probably would have you committed. ..BUT use the word god instead ...all is well..
Where did I say they "have no right" to thank God? They have the right of free speech, they can say it if they believe it. But people who believe differently can say what they think, too. When someone thanks God for money they know very well came from other people, I say it tends to show how they see what they want to see, and not what is true. They have every right to say it, and I have the right to say they're conflating their beliefs with reality.
I think it shows you choose to ridicule people who think different than you, rather ironic don't you think?
Yes it's appalling when someone is bullied whether they are Christian or gay.Awww, poor Christians, getting beat up on. You think it's appalling? Religions ..Christianity ( especially ) have perfected persecution of people who are not like them..or think like them..
That is my take on it as well. A lot of Christian bashing going on. The liberal media just loves to find any opportunity to denigrate them. The worst thing the media can dig up about them regarding the Indiana law, is some pizza owner who said they would serve gays in their establishment, but wouldn't participate in their wedding plans because of their religious objections. The utter vitriol that this establishment endured, and nearly put out of business, due to their religious beliefs were appalling. Fortunately, many observed what an injustice this was becoming to this family, and came to their financial aid. Many Christian bashers will say that the people who donated to them are just a bunch of bigots themselves coming to the aid of another bigot, instead of seeing people come to the aid of someone who was unfairly bullied . What the Christian haters don't realize is, if a gay pizzeria owner were being threatened, and in risk of losing their business by bullies, many of those same Christians would be coming to their financial aid as well, regardless of their disagreement about gay marriage that many of them have. This post is a prime example of the basis for this issue - the bigotry displayed by liberals toward people of faith, especially southern Christians. We've seen this PornHub map before, and as Xiggi pointed out, it in no way proves religious people in the Bible Belt are the largest consumers of gay porn. Using that same false statistical application one could draw the conclusion that minorities are the largest consumers of porn considering the top states mentioned also have the highest percentages of minority population. The First Amendment guarantees American citizens the freedom to practice their religion. It also allows the mainstream media to disparage Christians in every possible negative manner without a shred of justification.

It is NOT like Jim Crow laws. Gays aren't treated like second class citizens. We are talking about some people who have a religious objection in being FORCED to participate in proceedings for gay wedding. One can't prove a negative. [ But if there's no proof that God exists after 2000 + years of people really really, really, searching for even a shred, what does that tell us?]
The donations don't matter, to me - what matters is the beneficiaries publicly thanking God for the money, when it was donated by real people. Doesn't the truth matter at all? Or is religion and 'belief' a license to just make stuff up, and when challenged, just say "prove it's wrong"? That's just nuts.
It's ok if they say gay people are sinners, but when they refuse to treat them the same as straight people in public, that's going too far, IMO. It's just like the Jim Crow laws all over again, and why would we want to go back to a time when some people [blacks, women] were second class citizens in the eyes of the law?
I think it shows you choose to ridicule people who think different than you, rather ironic don't you think?
Yes it's appalling when someone is bullied whether they are Christian or gay.
Perspective is someone being bullied because a religious person doesn't want to participate in a gay marriage and are threatened with violence because of it. Two wrongs don't make a right.
No, I don't think. I don't ridicule people who think differently, but people who make statements about something that is clearly false? Fair game. Unless, of course, I think [or suspect] they are mentally ill, if they say something ridiculous, I can say it's ridiculous. And I stand by my comment: the money didn't come from God, and she knows it - or ought to.

I said each is appalling whether they are gay or Christian threatened with violence. You seem to be ok with Christians being threatened, and they were threatened ."Threatened with violence"? [And let's don't forget the outcome: nearly a million dollars in donations, for their troubles], and you think that's equivalent to being dragged to death behind a pickup truck, because a couple good ol boys don't like gay people? Being beat up for walking down the street? Being arrested for loving someone, in the privacy of your bedroom? Being thrown out of your own family, at age 16, 17?
Get real.
Ought to know it from the all knowing Cheri cola. The lady thanked her god for all the generosity from people who came to her aid and you have a problem with that. Unreal. No, I don't think. Divine intervention. HahaIt uploaded the wrong pic..but ..is the truth though
Thats ridicule simply because you don't understand or agree you just confirmed it.
There is no way you know it is false you simply believe it is. I find it very hard to understand how someone thanking God can bother you so much.

Like I said before, many of those same people would help the gay pizzeria owner if they were threatened with losing their business and threatened with violence. It's what Christians do. They don't believe in bullies.
Divine intervention. Haha
