The best expediting company

Leo once locked a thread because he felt that it would serve no useful purpose. For the life of me, I can't imagine the useful purpose of this one. And, BTW, my carrier fits the description of the mysterious, unnamed carrier that he's describing.

O.K. But, the thing is, you can do your due diligence in making a choice of carriers and you still won't truly know how they work out for you until you sign on. Your carrier and mine would be good examples. Top shelf, but there will still be those that find fault and talk poorly of them after they leave.

We've had people come and go...they found faults....it is such a personal choice that there is no real answer to Leo's quizz...only generalities..

Well let me guess again - Express-1?

If this thread is about making people think about making decisions, go to my first post in it and read it again. If it to make a statement about a specific carrier, then name the carrier. IT is just like Layout's making us think who would make a good presidential candidate - we just don't have that power to guess with the 315 million people in the country.

For the newbie, finding a company may take a while if you have expectations of being in business while on the other hand it may be the first one you land in. What ever it is, each individual is just that, an individual and they may or may not have the same needs as I or others have so it is right back to the best expediting company is the one that works for you.

Vince,

It's about how Turri Transportation is the best company around. :D However, we're a close second.

Hey Jeff, I didn't say it, you did...

But I won't disagree with you... Lol

Back to this thread... O/o have different needs, different business models. There isn't one cookie cutter answer to this question. A team may like the larger carriers, singles may prefer the smaller companies that don't use electronic logs. Not because they want to cheat, but they have more control of when their 14 hour clock starts for the day versus when the truck moves. Just one example.

No company is perfect. There's no argument to that. My contention is that of the current crop of companies there is one that is more honest and fair with their contractors than the others, that from the top down is interested in success for everyone as much as possible. It is not a company that has cattle calls and herds as many through as possible knowing if you throw enough spaghetti against the wall a little of it will stick.

I am not naming a specific company because not everyone will agree, some because their research suggests otherwise, some because their needs/wants are different and another company is their fit and a few just because they will disagree with whatever I say.

The primary point is to counter those who say no company cares anything about their contractors and is 100% out for their interests only and secondarily to hopefully inspire the curious to do adequate research and due diligence.

Well Leo, I would name them because for us who have been around for a while and moved through a few companies, we can better understand the blanket statement you have been making and comment on it accordingly with our thoughts and experiences. It is not the issue of disagreeing which will happen regardless what the company you have in mind but that of helping through the dialog that happens based on your observation.

Already as one member has pointed out in a PM, we are at post like 114 and this thread is actually really not nearly as effective as it could be because had a cryptic start.

Well I would agree with you but see you already named one carrier who I feel is in the second tier in the contractor relations category because their interest is not the contractor but their own and have stated such through a number of channels. Almost everyone disputs that info.

I would think that offering a name of a company would inspire those not to just haphazardly research on their own points of interest where they don't know much about the issues but understand one's opinion is a starting point when it is disclosed to everyone what they are talking about.

Either way, you can't convince some of us that it is anywhere close to a good thing to keep the name to yourself and make us guess ...

It must be Tri-state?

Dave, are you saying every single person who gets into this industry does proper due diligence? I certainly don't think so but I'm not going to be a rude jerk about it towards you. Oh, and Fedex is an excellent company and in the top tier but they aren't the company.

No, I believe I said I dont believe you can be any better than me at due diligence.
And your little ideas are "cute".
BUT, I am sure their are many expediters who did do their homework and many who didnt.
Hey, almost sounds like real life not fantasy island.

I dont hide, I dont run, I try and say exactly whats on my mind so others wont have to guess.

I find the biggest jerks hide behind insinuation.

Oh, I disagree with you, IT IS FEDEX CC.
( he says while shaking his pom poms ):D

Load-1 currently sets the standard for respect and fairness to their contractors. They aren't perfect I'm sure as none are. Their advantage is a boss who prioritizes integrity.

What?

OK so we waited 116 posts, banned one outstanding member over what he said because of his frustration and we get this?

Seriously?

Sorry Leo, you contract with them?

If you do, that's great but I know a few who would like to say that may be just an opinion, which comes back to what a few of us have been saying for a long time - the best company is the one that fits you.

If you don't - what is wrong with you?

No disrespect towards John or his employees but for some odd reason, many are euphoric in their discovery to what we have known for along time, Load-1 is a good company but again the best company is the one that fits you.

Bring back Moot.

Dave,
what's the point?

Is it how to hold a discussion without really saying what you mean or is it practicing avoiding answering a simple question?
