Again, Welcome to Panther Bruno :)

For newbies that are reading this thread, the bottom line in all of this is, you have to find the carrier that fits you. As you can see there are many different reasons for a carrier to be a good "fit" for you. We've been with both of the above mentioned carriers, we like things about both carriers and if we could combine them we think we would have THE perfect carrier.

Good post couldn't have said it any better.

This post was not meant to be about who is bad or who is the best. I was just saying thanks to all the people from FedEx Custom Critical. I also was talking about what Panther has for their drivers. The post turned into OTHER things when Phil started making fun at what FedEx needs for their Drivers and Owners thats all.

When I was with the Kitty and broke my ankle they saw there was a cargo van driver sitting about 25 miles away and he said they gave him a little bonus to come check on me. Maybe he was pulling my leg and saw my truck in the ER parking lot and decided to check it out. Either way my wife and I were thankful.

I will say that when our one truck was hit by a drunk driver a few years back. Pat G. did a GREAT job. The truck was hit in the back drivers side bumper at 117 mph and moved the truck sideway over 25 feet. The brother and sister team was okay and finshed the run and Pat made them check into a nice Hotel all paid by FedEx. I will say this Alumi-Bunk makes the best DOT bumper in the business. The bumper messed the car up and and saved the truck.

I agree Dave, I didn't bring what happened because I wanted to trash FedEx but to counter the bull that all things are great here... 'we don't see that happen ever' while the fawns and bunnies playing in the background - like some nightmare Disney movie with some of the defense. I think if some would go through some of this first hand, their tune would change. These things happened to me, they happened to many others and maybe it was just some of us focus on things that bring a little bit more stress to the people who provide the services to the company.

FedEx is a good company, don't mistake a desire to see improvements to the company with real disgruntled contractor, that's not the case.

Some of these points are people, not corporate. Neither company says good day or anything else, only the people working there. Some always do. Some do when they're having good days. Some might never say it. I don't really care if they go into that and how my day is going as long as they are professional and do their job correctly. With rare exceptions a birthday card from a company is only sent because the computer flags them and someone has the duty of sending them out. I'd rather have b'day cards from my family and friends who actually know my b'day rather than a token gesture from the company. To some these are big issues I guess but to me they are nits. As long as they are paying correctly and marking refusals correctly I can live with or without the nits.

My personal experiences with the
Feds have been extremly positive.
As others have commented, they have
their faults but nothing we arnt
able to overcome. I guess over time
you mature to the point that you
know which battles to fight.

Ive seen
a few good teams and drivers leave
over the course of nearly five years.
Ive not seen drivers or teams leave
us with pockets full of cash.
For the most part we are a happy
bunch and profit over aggrevation
gets us thru those bad times.

Ive always been treated
with the upmost of respect and when
needed the Feds were there for us.
NO question about it. Why others
have such polar opposite experiences
is beyond me. We are very comfortable
in this relationship and cant imagine
leaving for another carrier.

Very surprised to see a senior CC
driver leave for panther. I just have
this gut feeling Mayfield will
eventually return.

I really have never left, just as a driver. I still deal with FedEx everyday in regards to the trucks we still have on with them. Sometimes in life you need to try something new, this happens to be a time in my life. I loved my years with Roberts Express/FedEx Custom Critical. I learned alot from some GREAT people their. Having trucks on at a carrier other than FedEx is something new. How can I train drivers to do a job at Panther if I haven't done it myself. Will I say that I will never return to FedEx no. Because that was my home for many years and I loved my job their. Never know they may not want me back since I have went to Panther now, you never know.

But over all my time there was a Great one.

Not sure why you would be surprised? Maybe a thought for another post? There has been many EO drivers and fleet owners that left the Fed for either Panther or Landstar. I am aware of only a couple that had ever returned. And before "the fawn and bunnies" come out, I wonder how many left Panther or Landstar only to return later?
If Dave(Bruno) has the patience to learn Panthers system, he will do fine. Now whether he likes it better is hard to say. That is more of a individual thing.

The real story is you can to to Panther HQ and FedEx HQ any week and see each other's trucks in each other's parking lots. People move back and forth, and forth and back, for a host of reasons; some as slight as being offended by a dispatcher on a given day; some as important as being given special consideration to move a fleet.

For individuals, it would be foolish to base a decision to move one way or another based on what other people are doing. It is wise to thoroughly research the move before making one. Base your decison on your needs, not on what others are doing. Do real research on carriers to find the one that is best for you.

Look at Leo. He recently moved his own truck from Panther to FedEx but left fleet trucks with Panther. Look at Bruno, he recently moved from FedEx to Panther but still manages FedEx trucks. If either company was terrible, folks like these would have made more definitive moves long ago.

The same applies to Landstar. People move back and forth from from other carriers too.

That was my point. I think Julie was making too big of an assumption.

Wondering Dave what you mean by this comment?

We have also seen an assortment of trucks in the FCC parking lot and some with many different shades of logos on their trucks. Some trucks seem to bounce from company to company while others think long and hard before moving. The trucks that have thought long and hard about moving I think make the best of the move and will do well anywhere.
We firmly believe there is not one great company that fits all but there is a company that will fit your style of business and you need to make the most of it. When that company no longer fits your business it is time to move on but I see no reason to trash the previous company you were at as there I am sure several trucks that your former company fits very well. Just because you do not like the policies at your former company get over it and move on to your new company and make the best of it.
Quit Bashing your old company the day you left you are no longer in the loop and the policies at every company change everyday. You are no longer in the loop and you are just bashing stuff you no longer have a clue about but only get second hand.

And even if he has a way of getting first hand information, why bash your former carrier? Doing so disrespects everyone who has selected that carrier and leaves one looking like an embittered, person with an ax to grind.

I already asked that. I am not ripping Fedex. You are reading something into a post that isn't there.
Maybe you better reread my post.
My question was how many started at a particular carrier and left, only to return later.

I think this has gone far enough off track from Dave's original post.

This thread is locked, please move on.
