The opening line of the article says it all;
Well, it says a lot, but it certainly doesn't say it all, not to mention it's misleading.
NEW YORK -- Parents at a Brooklyn elementary school are furious over a fifth-grade teacher’s bathroom policy that prohibits students from jetting to the john more than three times a week.
The students already have 4 x 5 = 20 bathroom opportunities per week. The teacher's policy would limit any
additional bathroom breaks, which can only occur in the middle of class, to three classroom interruptions per week per student.
Frankly, some kid who failed to go a half hour ago, and can't hold it for another hour until lunch, should hear "NO" when they ask to go to the bathroom. If they sit there and pее in their pants, they (and the entire classroom) will have learned a very valuable life lesson they can take with them their entire lives.
Given the fact that this is the NYC public school system, where they can't control the teachers, then I would think it makes a great case for parents to fight for their children like freedom fighters in other parts of the world - with every means possible.
Freedom fighters? Over their snotty little brats trying to get out of class by abusing the restroom breaks?
I know that sounds harsh but doesn't anyone give a crap about real child abuse in this country?
Harsh? No. Ridiculous? Yes.
End public schools, end institutionalized child abuse
