RE: OK, You're Ignorant

Wow Jack,

What's with the personal attacks.

You're hurting my feelings....:'(

That was a rhetorical request......

Out of everything you read that's what you got out of it...???? I'm already a self proclaimed ninny.

Again with these PRINCIPLES. I think you're in LOVE with the idea of your job being some higher calling, that only some supremely spiritual being can comprehend. (What do you think, some pretty fancy words there. HUH?? Are you sure you don't wanna take back that intelligence slam..???)

Make me a better human. Explain the PRINCIPLES to me.....Or better yet how do they relate to the TOPIC at hand.

BTW...If you look at my posts you'll see my clever use of quotes it indicates things I've read or thoughts of others. Not necessarily mine.

RE: OK, You're Ignorant

For someone to praise another guy the way you are only to put yourself below another doesn't say much of what you think of yourself. What is it your praise about this guy that you yourself can't do? Then because you believe you aren't as good as... you put another down only to say he is doing it.

If you think owning a big expensive truck is what makes a man, you have a lot to learn. I myself don't know GR so please tell me what this guy has that you or MPG, or I don't have or from the way you put it will never have??? Don't come on this forum not knowing all the facts before you start pointing the finger.

YES I can say that on this forum because I've been here from early on and I know all those that have been here to TRUELY help others FROM THE BEGAINNING!!!

"NO MAN IS BETTER THAN I FOR WE ARE EQUAL" - AS RICH WOULD SAY... NOUGH SAID!!!

Personally, I just cannot see me selling cars - or selling anything for a living - I delt with too many salesmen in my engineering career and don't much care for the thought of people running from me when they see me coming :p But there is money in sales for sure - thats just not for me.

I would do the job for $25k if I had to - but only if I had to - right now, no one has to unless they want to be lazy or be a casual driver.....seeing as how I decided to take summer off and only worked about 3 or 4 weeks since March - heck, I may only make $25k this year - but thats my choice, so its not like thats all I can make driving.

And yes, while in tooling, I could have formed a big list of the BS that went with that job - but I never fooled myself, the pay was well worth all the BS - and thats how I always justified putting up with all that BS.

Compared to what I was used to, I think I've adjusted rather well to this pay, heck, I even consider it a good week if I gross what it used to only take me to make in a day and a half while pulling a nooner. But we all need to make adjustments, and if I can do it, anyone can!

I should be back out tomorrow - don't know when or where I am heading but will try to pm you when I get back to the hood.

NoProblem,

I hear you, bro. Sales would be hard to swallow. I know how toolies view salesmen. It would be real hard to change that mindset. But, if push comes to shove. You gotta do what you gotta do.

I don't think you'll be making $25,000 anytime soon. It sounds like you have a REAL SOLID work ethic. Take it easy with all that driving illegal stuff though. Unless that's another common thing I'm not aware of. Seems to be frowned upon by the senior members. I just like playing devil's advocate in the forums. If you haven't noticed....;) I think you're making a good move going to expediting. It seems like there's less "dirty pool" going on compared to OTR. At least that's what I can glean from the two forums. The attitudes over here are much brighter than over at the other place. Just get your owner to pay you proper and you're all set. Another company to check out might be REI in Romeo. I have a buddy over there. He likes it alot. Same setup as you. About an hour away though.

I admire your attitude.

I would love to pick your brain in person.

Best of luck to you.

Well, it is a big step to leave a lucrative career under any circustances - but when the outlook is so bleak in said career that one has to "step down" to this industry - well, I can bet the action will take place once he has experienced what this industry has to offer - at which time, he will take full advantage of it IMHO.

The full transition actually took me about six months to make before I took full advantage of the system. That six months started at CDL school. Hopefully he will make the transition a whole lot faster....sure sounds like he will if ya ask me.

One thing that hampered me was always trying in vain to get back into tooling - once I accepted that fact that all hope of that career coming back was gone, thats when I started to "work" the OTR biz and started making a few bucks and started to REALLY enjoy trucking for the most part. I just needed to realize that.............

Ya can't make it to second base with one foot still on first:7

Awful lot of redunancy here, MPG has his problems because evolution happens both with people and business. The more things stay the same ,the more they change.Complaining and whining about poor me gets you knowhere in life. Walmart is here to stay,we all shop there, but the Mom/Pop stores are gone.Walgreens and Eckerds drove out the small pharamacy and thats the way it is,compete or fail.
So enough has gone on about this topic and it will be locked down and lets go on to more positive topics.
