Shirts and ties

What if we turn that around a little? Is a professional attitude going to dress like a pig? We have this same conversation about vehicle upkeep and signage.

As for ties, they are a safety issue in most cases around trucks and machinery. Even a clip-on can end up in places that can cause damage (foreign object damage). I'm surprised (actually not) when I go in places that say, no rings, watches, or jewelry, and everyone is required to wear an id card lanyard around their neck.

Totally agree I don't believe sweatpants, stained tshirts, bo etc make a company or person look good.

Consider the tie. It is a piece of cloth that you wrap around your neck. It does not keep you warm nor does it keep you dry in the rain. It serves no useful purpose, other than decoration. They get caught in things. They look kinda silly if you really think about them. They just hang there, doing nothing. Makes little sense to wear one. Oh what slaves to fashion we can be. You COULD use them as a napkin. Then at least they would serve a practical purpose.

Ties are an example of marketing brilliance, a piece of cloth that couldn't be used for an article of clothing but rather than being thrown away was sold as decorative clothing. Ron Popeil would be proud.

I wear blue jeans and a pocket t-shirt, in cooler weather I wear a long sleeve button up shirt with a pocket over the t-shirt,shirts are always tucked in even t-shirts. I only wear solid color t-shirts,I don't like t-shirts with writing on them, unless it is the company logo. My clothes are always clean and not wrinkled. I wear tennis shoes or boots. When on a W/G run I wear the Uniform until the run is finished. I almost always wear a baseball cap with company logo.I dislike shorts at work, will wear them at home.
Where I try to excel is my attitude at P/U and deliveries. I always say sir or mam, am willing to do what the customer requires. If the customer is impolite for some reason I don't care,I remain polite.I have had dispatcher's compliment me over the phone for being polite,I talk to them just like a customer, even if something is wrong no need to be impolite, honey will get you more than vinegar.I don't knock anyone else how they dress good or bad we all have our own habits. I do have my share of bad habits, but I was taught to treat people the way I want them to treat me. ( I was Bored!)

We wear our uniforms at all times when working, White Glove work or not. We believe it looks more professional AND we have to carry fewer "civilian" clothes that way.
