Sitting in a hotel in Hammond, La with Tropical Sorm Lee's tornado warning's interupting my Kardashian marathons. I got here yesterday @ 3 and they wouldn't unload me @ the Walmart distribution center because my appointment was in "scheduled" status and not confirmed. It was a carrier to carrier load so there was some miscommunication I guess, not really sure.
I talk to the other carrier who says they will call the customer to try get it resolved, I am talking to my dispatch on another matter half hour later and I'm told to call John Doe @ Walmart @ 3 am to get "off loaded"
I don't really mind at this point as I need sleep anyway. So 3 am comes, John isn't there yet, so @ 3:30, I explain to who answers the situation, I hear for the 15th time the appointment was in "scheduled" status and not confirmed, so I ask for John Doe, I talk to him and he gives me the same story and he tells me to get dispatch to change the appointment to "confirmed" because everything on "walmart's" end is ok.
I call the carrier's dispatch and tell them the situatuon, they agree to check into it, I get a call back from their dispatch asking for John Doe's contact info. 15 minutes later, I get a call back from their dispatch saying to call back the same # and ask for Tuesday's appointment to be "cancelled" and to schedule a new one for Sunday.
I don't understand why I had to make the call and it didn't get done when they talked to them. So I call again and ask to cancel and the manager doesn't understand, so I tell him to call John Doe who is his supervisor, he does and comes back and we now have an appointment for Sunday.
I really don't understand why I had to do it today and it couldn't be switched yesterday. Too much red tape for this steering wheel holder.
So I went and stocked up on supplies earlier and I'm holed up in the room. It's funny watching local news and they aresaying the pumps are working good and relatively speaking, flooding should be minimal. Then I switch to CNN & I find the coverage interesting, the reporter reports that there are lulls in the rain and it allows the pumps to catch up and it's not turning into a category 1, then the host responds and tries to create hesteria (sp?) with her questioning and the reporter has to go along with it because technically he can't guarantee that nothing bad is going to happen.
Stores are open and people are continuing with their lives and employees were talking about areas that will experience flooding. I asked what would have to happenfor the store to close and was told that regional office would have to call and make that decision.
I didn't ask where regional office was. Think I'm going togo for a ride while another lull is here.
