Ok we found out what killed our trany. Someone mixed the synthetic oil in the trany, with regular gear grease. Which cooked it to a black sludge. It even ruined the the core, can not rebuild it. So double check what the shops are using in your trany's.This is what happens when you have to use different shops for service. So if you are not sure have it checked ASAP. It gets so thick and hot it literally cooks to a black hard substance. Other then that hope everyone is having a better week then we are.....LOL

That sucks. I completely agree. Keeping your maint to one shop or one chain is smart business. Sad to see how much money and time this will waste.

Dropped the gas early this AM and ran down to Amarillo for the night..was goin to run to Tulsa , Mike Jr said that might not be a good idea...so Russellville Ark it is for now...Would hate to DH back to Taylor by Fri for these QC updates...BUT, got no one to blame but myself..I have know about them for over a month....Anyhow, you all have a great day and be safe...:)

Ya still have 12 days left Dennis.....I got mine yesterday....we've known about the upgrades for months actually...but it was only last week it became known to be mandatory...

Yeah...and I went oos last week, deadheaded to the yard (not a big deal)....to find out that mine had been updated by satellite. I knew that workflow and copilot were showing on the unit, but workflow wasnt working. They had to do something in the office and now Im on workflow.

If its showing up on the last page of the home screens (where the games are), I would suggest a phone call to Matt before you spend money getting to the yard.

It's a seat cushion. It is designed by pilots for pilots, actually. These things are very popular with pilots. Oshkosh Defense uses them in a wide range of military vehicles. A lot of aircraft, including military aircraft, are now being built with Oregon Aero seats, not cushions. The seat cushions themselves aren't military approved as an add-on to existing seats, far as I know, but many of the existing seats are Oregon Aero. It's the standard seating for the KC-135 Stratotanker, the C-130 Hercules, A-10 Warthog, B-1, B-2, F-4 Phantom, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Falcon, FA-18, and the F-22. Plus a dozen helicopters. I've flown twice in a C-130 and the seats, armrests, even the bunks were Oregon Aero. They make forklift seats, which I've seen a few times. You can also send your truck or van seats to them and they'll rebuild them for you. They make seats for big trucks, too, or you can retrofit yours. Not cheap, tho. Neither is the cushion or lumbar support or the full back, but it's without question the best money I've spent in expediting.

The seat cushion alone is $191 (2" base). The half back (the lumbar support) is $64.00. The seat cushion/lumbar support combo is cheaper together at $250 (for the 2" base).

The full back (which also includes the adjustable lumbar support) is $202, so the full back and seat together are $393. Again, best money I've ever spent in expediting. Seriously. If I had to choose between my Espar and my Softseat, then I'll just expedite 6 months out of the year and go without the Espar (because I'll never do another winter without one).

I've had my SoftSeat since 2005 and it's still just as comfortable as the day I got it. The covers unzip for throwing in the washing machine. Yes, it handles machine washing just fine, just don't throw the foam in there with the covers.

You want the 2" seat cushion (if you weight more than 160 pounds or have a delicate backside like me that you want properly pampered). The more the better, especially with a Sprinter, especially if you drive in and around Detroit. They have a 1" and a 1/2", but those are for airplane seats that are not adjustable (most of them aren't) and you are limited on headroom. But I know a couple of tall people who use the 1" and they're very pleased with it. You want the non-skid strips for the base. If you get the full back, it comes with attached straps with buckles. The lumbar support and the full back zippers to the base.

Very important: Don't get the base alone. Get it WITH the lumbar support (or with the full back which has the lumbar support included). You'll regret it if you don't get both.

Spend some time at their Web site and read all about the cushions, and them.

Correct. The updates were in testing phases for a few vehicles, then a few more, but no one said a word about them being mandatory until late last week. Mandatory physical upgrades need to have lead times of 60 or 90 days for an OTR fleet, not 3 weeks.

Although, I have no doubt that dispatch can manage to find every single truck a load going to Taylor by the end of the month.

Well I think we have been "asking" everyone to come through the yard for about 2 months to get this completed.........

So now you know how long mandatory field updates should take?
I live 600 miles from Taylor, so I don't go there much on my own. I and others I know have gone periods of 3 months or more without having any loads that delivered in or near Michigan. I have mailed my paperwork into Admin more times than I've been there to drop it off. I know for fact that I'm not unique in that I'm not at or near the Yard as often as some people. I've also seen the same thing first hand at other carriers. So yes, I do know how long mandatory physical field updates should take when they are implemented organically (whenever you happen to be at the Yard) rather than some specific mechanism in place to have them done.

I don't have a problem at all with making it mandatory. I've actually wanted to get the update ever since it was first announced, but I've only been to the Yard two times during business hours since then. Both times, I was told they didn't have time to do it that day, maybe the next day. The first time I got loaded out a few hours later and wasn't there the next day. The second time I was there I spent half the day waiting to meet with Joe about an issue, and when that was over I had to deadhead home for a doctor's appointment and wasn't there the next day, either. Neither time did there appear to be any urgency to get it done, or even that it needed to be or should be done. Up until last week it seemed more of a "if you're here and you want it we'll do it" kind of thing, or "the next time you need something done to the QC we can do the upgrade, too", rather than a "this should be done ASAP" kind of thing. We have people six months or more behind on their Monthly maintenance reports and some are weeks are months behind in turning in their paper logs, and this seemed even less urgent than those things.

The first time I was made aware that it was a mandatory thing, much less a "should do" or "need to do" thing, was on my birthday last Thursday, September 13th, in a QC message that I never even got. It gave me 17 days to get to Taylor and get the update done, as if I'm in Taylor really often and it shouldn't be a problem at all, since, you know, all roads lead to Taylor. As far as "asking" everyone to come through the yard for about 2 months to get this completed, I was never asked. Not once. Otherwise, it would have been done already.

I see that your post was edited. I did not use my moderator status to dig anything up. For one thing, once a post has been edited, the edited text cannot be dug up or otherwise resurrected once the edit has been posted. Text edits are not logged or preserved in any way, only entire posts and threads that have been deleted are logged. For another, I would not, and never have, dug up and posted anything that someone has deleted, with the exception of one instance where the poster specifically asked that I "un-delete" a post of theirs which they had mistakenly deleted.

In this case, all I did was click "Reply With Quote" and replied to what was quoted. Obviously, I clicked before you posted your edit, because it quotes whatever is on the server. So I thank you to not accuse me of something that I could not possibly have done, that no one could have done.
