Rick Perry indicited

Of course it's politically motivated. Many in the political world would like to knock down Perry's momentum before the 2016 presidential primaries get started. Perry is a big boy, if he can't survive such shenanigans from his opponents, then he really isn't ready for more responsibility. It's a nuisance and a distraction, but it comes with the territory.

AH! The swing swings both ways. It's old already.

We have REAL problems, cover ups etc at every level.

Why can't we fire ALL of these bums? I don't give a flip if they are left wing, right wing, or broken wing, get rid of ALL of them. It's time to start anew.

Since the Dems are euphoric over indicting Gov. Perry, it shouldn't be too difficult to indict Hillary Clinton for something she's allegedly done. Hillary has been embroiled in political controversies since she was fired from the Watergate commission during the Nixon years. Teach the Dems a painful lesson, indict Hillary.

OR, flush her, and every other politician , down the 1 gallon, federally mandated toilet.

It is a safe bet that since the Dems think they're so clever as to indict a popular sitting governor who has presidential ambitions, the GOP will reciprocate. If the Dems want to go down the path of dueling indictments, so be it. The criminalization of politics is unfortunate, unwise and unhealthy for a democracy.

You know how it is with the liberals, if they can't win at the polls, they go judge-shopping for a friendly court. This is the worst kind of politics. It must be stopped.

Let's just hope that when we flush them down the toilet that they don't end up in Lake Erie. There is enough crap in that lake now as it is.

I agree that the criminalization of politics is unfortunate, unwise, and unhealthy for a democracy, and someone should have persuaded Gov Perry of that before he threatened to veto funding for someone he'd like to replace with one of his own party. Because the last time it was tried, James Ferguson vetoed funds for a university to force out some people he didn't like, and he was impeached for it. Coercion is a criminal behavior.
Plenty of pols have been convicted of DUI without suffering political fallout [too bad, because IMO, it's inexcusable] which means Perry is the one making it political.
And if the GOP reciprocates, that's even worse, because it's just childish.

PS I'm wondering why no one ever charged Anne Ferro....

The GOP went after Clinton and it was 100% political. If the prosecution was a Republican then you'd have something other than politics to this, but it's clearly politics. Threatening a veto is also pure politics. Happens all the time. It's literally the same thing as the federal government saying you do this or that in schools, you name one street after MLK Jr, you raise your drinking age to 21, you lower your blood alcohol ratio from .10% to .08%, you will enact a seat belt law in your state, otherwise we'll withhold federal funds for roads. If Perry were a Democrat, there would have been no grand jury proceeding on this.

It's always about politics! But ya still got to love it.

No, we DON'T "gotta love it". I for one am TOTALLY fed up with it! Politics as usual, SUCKS! It is "politics as usual" that got us into the mess we are in and it is what is keeping us in the mess we are in.

Why in the world does a nation of 300 million people tolerate the manure candidates we see to be fielding, year in and year out? We need a "NONE OF THESE IDIOTS" choice on the ballot.

What does Saturday have to do with it? It's just one day of the week that ends in "Y". ;) This garbage is disgusting 7 days a week.

Besides, I am NOT home, I CAN'T use my boat, it's boring, it's going to rain, and likely flood.

Having given this a little more thought, the spectre of an indictment hanging over Perry's head likely will derail his ability to gain the GOP nomination for 2016. For the Dems, that will be mission accomplished.

Fair or not, most voters will not bother themselves to learn the facts. The media will cry, "Indictment. Indictment. Indictment!" At every future press conference, Perry will be hammered with loaded questions about being indicted. This is a political takedown, pure and simple. And it's a real shame. There are plenty of bonafide crooks in our political system. Perry isn't one of them. By all accounts, he has been a fine public servant; always considered to be a good and decent man. One might not share his politics, but that shouldn't lead to the politics of personal destruction.

I am confident Perry will clear his name of any wrongdoing, but the media will lovingly drive a stake through his heart. A truly good man is being destroyed for sport. It will be interesting to see which politicians step forward to defend Perry, if any.

Perry's trumped-up indictment stems from the fact he as governor tried to have Travis County DA Rosemary Lehmberg resign from office following her drunken-driving conviction. Lehmberg's BAC was .23 which is nearly triple the legal limit for intoxication.

Here is a dash-cam video of Lehmberg's arrest: Travis County DA Rosemary Lehmberg Drunk Driving Arrest Dash Cam - YouTube

When Lehmberg refused to resign from office, Perry threatened a line item veto concerning funds to operate her office. Hell has no fury like a woman's scorn.

This likely started at levels higher than she.

Don't get me wrong, I don't trust Perry either. He is a politician. That SHOULD be enough to scare anyone. I have YET, I guess it could happen, to meet a career politician that could be trusted.
