Response to Threads by Panther Staff

Dear Expediting Family,

I applaud each of you for the work that you do. You are true partners and friends and I am thankful to be associated with everyone in and out of a truck that posts to these threads. I also want to thank EO for allowing this vehicle to share ideas, suggestions and comments. I, like all in the industry, watch and appreciate the positive things you say about Panther, laugh at the comical things and get frustrated at the things I feel are mis-representations or mis-interpretations.

One thing about Panther, is that we are a proud group of people. We love what we do and truly feel we are making a difference in the world. This goes for the staff in Seville or the ladies and gentlemen on the road who, not only provide their skills and expertise in the driving arena, but also excel in customer service, maintenance, safety and sales. They are the true representation of Panther and we would be nothing without them.

Unfortunately, as positive a trait as pride is, sometimes misguided pride can damage relationships instead of building them. I know that there have been some posts recently with people who are associated with Panther in Seville. I want to be clear that the Panther management team does not promote or endorse the comments, actions or suggestions of these people. I want to apologize for any inconvenience, any promotion of Panther being anything other than a professional organization or any suggestion that we do not value our owner or driver partners.

I applaud the people posting for their commitment to Panther but have asked them to suffer in silence on a go forward basis. The EO forum is a great venue to share both the good and bad. I applaud and thank all of our Partner drivers who continue to ensure the true message is sent in these forums. Thank you, please be safe for you and your family.

Every one Jeff is a very busy man with a lot on his plate so for him to take time out of his busy day to do this is really something.

I know I’m down on Panther right now but it’s the whole loosing my truck issue because of not making enough to make a payment.

It’s a big company like a big truck takes time to get up to speed and changes are slow and I’m very inpatient my self. And the fact that I’m hanging on by a thread magnifies this a lot.

I’m still undecided on what I’m doing but if I do loose my truck I’m done I won’t be driving for some one else there will just be one driver and truck less some are thinking good less competition good luck some day you might be in my shoes.

Any way thanks Jeff for taking time out of your day to respond to us out here in the trenches.

Jeff, I too, thank you for your input. I'm a former ConWay O/O, & I have some questions that really don't require an immediate reply, so I'd rather not call & tie up a dispatcher, (all of whom, BTW, have tried to be helpful in a situation that's tough on all of us who didn't expect it.)
Is there an email address to which I can address my questions? If not, perhaps setting one up would save the dispatchers some grief, and the drivers can get answers without dealing with the (currently overwhelmed) phone system.

Thank you for the response and thank you for a very good suggestion.

If you have a settlement related issue please feel free to email them directly to [email protected]

or

If you are a single or multiple truck owner (soon to be available to fleet drivers), you can submit any issues or concerns from the owners website and actually track its progress.

Lastly,

For other issues please feel free to send to me at [email protected].

Thanks.

This sounds more like what we would expect from Panther. Obviously, this Scott character was doing a lot more harm than good for the Panther image. Anyone with even a hint of successful management or administrative experience knows that praise is done in public and criticisms/repremands are done in private. That might be a good policy to keep in mind when getting involved in any type of exchange in a public forum like this.

Jeff is a great guy. Very dedicated and willing to help on any situation. He is very level headed and doesn't song and dance you with a bunch of BS.

Thank you Jeff for your response and for setting the record straight. On my end I would like to offer a sincere apology for not holding myself to a higher standard in regards to Scott.
Wishing you the best,

Well, I feel what someone does on there own time is their right. The person from Panther that has posted on here has done nothing but defend Panther. I don't have any trucks on with them and wouldn't even think of putting on a truck there now. By posting something on here it makes it look like Panther has something to hide.

I think the poster above was very professional and in no way was trying to hide anything. Since he is a corporate executive, I think he wants to make sure that the right message is being sent out and that the people that work for Panther are representing the company professionaly. I also believe that if someone works for Panther then in their off time they are still representing the company. I also don't contract with Panther but I'm just posting my opinion to the above post.

What someone does on their own time under their own name should be fine. When it's done using a signature specifically identifying as a company representative it's questionable. When it's done identified as a company representative during working hours it definitely is something the company would have say in. I wouldn't decide not to work for a specific company because they don't want someone directly insulting specific individuals and/or giving out individuals information on company time.

I understand what your saying Leo, but just because someone works for a company doesn't mean their posting for the them. I post stuff about FedEx and they may not like what I say. But you don't see FedEx coming on here posting about what I say. I think Panther would have been better off not saying anything. I don't feel Scott did anything wrong and Panther should be glad that they have someone that will stand up for the company they work for.

So is Scott still their? I hope he didn't lose his job over him posting on here. That would be wrong and I hope that is not the case.
If Panther let him go or told him he would lose his job because he posted on here. Any good lawyer would have a field day with this in court in the state of Ohio. I hope he is still their.

You aren't signing your posts as a supervisor for FX and you aren't posting during paid salary hours. I believe those are the very significant differences and reasons why the company chose to respond.

Leo,

I think that if you work for, that is employed by, a company and post any information about or for the company like policies, you represent that company.

As a contractor, you don't work for that company and you dont represent the company on your own time.

Do you know Scott? Do you or have you worked with Scott?
He was not only doing it while on the job but using his job to get info to pick on people he was no longer allowed to pick on over the qc from work. You see not knowing every thing your statement is wrong. Not the first time Scott has been in trouble for abusing his authority. Granted he thinks he’s defending his company but think about it the post he was string up trouble in wasn’t even about the feud that it wound up was suppose to be about how many people from con-way was still at panther all he managed to do is turn prospected people away from Panther.

Greg, that's what I thought I'd been saying all along. Scootr was responding in a fashion that implied official communication as a company representative. If he'd done so during hours that weren't working hours and had done so without the signature identifying as a supervisor it would have been different. I believe the follow up response of this thread clearly outlines the company position and policy.

Unless Scott works at night then his post was from work. Most of his post's where at night. No I don't know Scott and have never met the guy. I just feel what someone does on their own time is there business. So what, that he put on here that he works for Panther.
Many folks have below there name that they work for Panther.

I guess what my point is, no matter if its Scott or someone else. We still live in America and we have the 1st Amendment. Many Great people died for right so you and me can say what ever we want.
That is my point, Panther shouldn't stress about what someone does on there Own time.

The First Amendment doesn't apply here. It guarantees that you can say what you want, when you want, without any reprisals from the government. The First Amendement gives you the right to make your very first post to EO a negative one, but it certainly doesn't prevent any reprisals from the EO Moderators. ;) It merely prevents the government from censorship or reprisals for your negativity.

But, when someone posts here as a representive of a company, whether on their own time or not, they subject themselves to reprisals from their company. How they conduct themselves on here as a representative of their company is a direct reflection of that company.
